Description:
INSTRUCTION (tested on Mandriva 2010.1) :
extract the folder and copy as root in /usr/share/plymouth/themes

Open the terminal, login as root and type:
plymouth-set-default-theme MIB-Ossigeno-Ultimate-Plymouth

/usr/libexec/plymouth/plymouth-generate-initrd

/usr/libexec/plymouth/plymouth-update-initrd

To change the theme of plymouth i use the plymouth switcher: ftp://ftp.mandrivauser.de/rpm/GPL/2010.1/i586/release/plymouth-theme-switcher-kdesu-0.3-1mud2010.1.noarch.rpm may be helps someone

I've installed it on Kubuntu Natty Narwhal 11.04 but it doesn't work: Black Screen.

I get this result when trying to 'plymouth-set-default-theme'... /usr/lib64/plymouth/script.so does not exist

Nevermind. plymouth-plugin-script was all i needed. I now have your whole suite installed on my system. Beautiful work friend.

Plymouth

Plymouth is a bootsplash for Linux supporting animations using Direct Rendering Manager and KMS driver. It gets packed into the initrd. Besides eye-candy, Plymouth also handles user interaction during boot. Wikipedia

Installation instructions:

  1. copy YOURTHEME folder to usr/share/plymouth/themes/YOURTHEME

  2. run in terminal:

sudo plymouth-set-default-theme YOURTHEME -R
