To obtain the same look in the screenshot you must set the shading to minimum+1. I.e. go to systemsettings -> application appearance -> colors -> options and set the shading level to the spot just before the leftmost one. You may prefer another shading level, just experiment to find your own.
If you want to use a dark color scheme be prepared to face some issues especially in websites, e.g. lightgray text over white combobox, etc. To workaround some of these problems you should use extensions like stylish

known issues:
if you use libreoffice, install the gnome package integration instead of the kde4 one. The latter has a bug that will set popup menu tet to black over darkgray background, which doesn't look good at all. In Arch linux, gnome integration comes from the libreoffice-gnome package while kde integration comes from libreoffice-kde4.

I love dark themes. I've tried the Qt variants, The Bespin variants, Even Kvantum variants I've experiencd strange artifacts and unstability with all of them. For me this is the most workable KDE dark theme. Keep up the good work.
Really nice colors. Some problems/questions. On some programs the menu bar looks not good (krusader, kate, ...) see http://i.imagebanana.com/img/ob125oo2/Auswahl_009.png In Systemsettings the black text on dark background is hard to read see http://i.imagebanana.com/img/rwbwzekk/Auswahl_010.png Then your mentioned problem regarding gray text on white background on many many sites is a real problem. Can you spot in detail how you fix that on your pc? P.S.: On your screenshot your firefox (background) is black, here it stays gray!?
The menubar color is wrong only in two apps? Then maybe some you have some customization specific to kate and krusader? Could you please post a screenshot of your systemsettings -> application appearance -> colors -> colors? Please let the window be big so that I can see if the color scheme has been installed succesfully. About the firefox startpage, the one in the screenshot is a custom one installed with the sytlish extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/it/firefox/addon/stylish/). After you installed it, go to userstyles.org and search for dark styles, you'll find lots of them. For the text problem, unfortunately dark color schemes are not well supported in many websites/firefox and workarounds are not always available. You need to customize the website appearance using a stylish style (or creating your own). There is also an extension for firefox that lets you change the color of specific parts of web pages (https://addons.mozilla.org/it/firefox/addon/color-that-site/) But it doesn't always work.
How'd you get the firefox menu to be orange like that?
install this: http://oxygenkde.altervista.org/index.html then in the Oxygen KDE options set the appmenu button style to 1 (which is also the dafault) If you use the menubar palsmoid (like in my screenshot) you should disable the firefox-menubar integration, otherwise the appmenu button will be hidden.
