Description: This plasmoid shows a menu of the open windows in all activities and all desktops. This list can be filtered on the title of the windows. Selecting an item in the list activates the corresponding window and switches to the activity and desktop on which this window is located.
The plasmoid can be completely manipulated with the keyboard. To select a window, move to it with the "Up" and "Down" arrow keys and press "Enter". To filter the windows by their titles, just start typing the title.
This plasmoid is entirely written in QML + JavaScript.
Hi, I really like this plasmoid. Will you be writing one for KDE5? I tried to edit the source myself and got as far as compiling it, but it doesn't show any windows.
when placed on the desktop I'd like the option to have just a clickable icon, like the older window list plasmoid
also to have the list sortable by name or when launched

I experience a few small issues, which seem to be connected to switching to a window on a different activity.
Afterwards the widget stays open but the search field does not have focus anymore. Typing will now open krunner. Closing and opening the widget again does not help. One needs to manually select the search field for it to regain focus.
Also the display of the content of the widget seems to be messed up after activity switching. Not all entries are listed or overlap with other entries.
Then a few suggestions. It is very hard to see which window is currently selected (default theme air). Compare it to the highlighting of an selection by krunner for example.
Maybe reconsider the order in which activities are listed. Windows with multiple activities are listed on top, but below that it is neither alphabetical nor recent use.

Well, those two applets have very different workflows. ;-)
This is more KRunner like approach, but mine anyway needs updates (especially after it got unrelated actions like pinning task after changes in libtaskmanager).

I will tell you about my usecase and why I like the QML Plasmoid more. I use icontasks as my main taskmanager, which has the big drawback that tasks are always grouped. Sometimes I need to see the list of all tasks ungrouped (for example when I have something like 20 pdfs open) so I also keep a windowlist plasmoid in my main panel. The QML plasmoid has two advantages:
1) you can type text to search
2) when you rightclick on a task and then close it, the dialog does not close automatically but stays open, so that you can, e. g. close a lot of unneeded files without having to click everytime on the icon to show the dialog

Apparently preferred way in Plasma is to do such things in form of dialogs instead of menus, so it would make more sense to swap those two applets (keeping old one available elsewhere, due to fact that they don't do 100% the same thing and not everybody likes dialog based workflow) instead of redoing existing one (basically that would be rewriting it from scratch) with nearly exact results. :-)

i'd suggest clearing the filter after clicking on a task, so that next time all programs are shown again. otherwise, a happy user!
