Description:
Square thingies based on Oxygen.
Needs Oxygen installed as fallback.

Disclaimer: I started with a plan of just changing some icons in the kickoff menu... but this icon "theming" business turned out to be very messy. I wanted to preserve original oxygen icons for everything but the menu and some app icons, didn't work so I had to keep going - hence lots of the icons are more or less just placeholders waiting for final icon.

Must also say sry to the makers of the Oxygen icons for my butchering of their fine work, just in order to learn...

peace Lars

!! Just wanted to remind people that I do this in order to learn - so icons will be changed in a seemingly random fashion as I go along
Last changelog:

0.1 - Initial pre-beta release...

0.15 - Small bug-fix update plus some new icons (Google browsers + some action icons)

0.16 - more bug-fixes and some new icons, mostly media-players.

0.17 - mimetypes for media files, trash-bin and some other icon experiments...

0.18 - LibreOffice + Skrooge.

0.19 - focused on the kickoff menu categories (there are quite a few of those...) and added/changed a few icons (qt4-settings among others).

0.195 - misc and... (I got the flu and can't remember )

0.20 - reworked some icons and added some - The Muon icon that I used as a base is made by - J0nas (http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/?content=145610), since I was just going to put some crap in a box I felt like his icon that has some finesse was the better choice

0.25 - I'm stuck at the basic icons... (kickoff with it's sub-menus is driving me crazy ) - reworked a few icons, like Gimp and Inkscape.

0.26 - small update, reworked some icons and added: ubuntu-tweak, gdebi, synaptic, peazip and 7zip.

0.27 - more reworked icons, naming fixes and added some icons, see preview no.2

0.28 - Fixed some icons with wrong names and added a few, see preview no.3

0.30 - Added icons for XBMC and BOINC manager. I also incorporated the mimetypes from Kfaenza since I want to start a new icon project. With this one I made so many initial mistakes that I will only update it sporadically from now on. If somebody really want some specific icon that are missing I might add those.

hi, I will add/change a lot of icons... following a list I have and if anyone ask for icons I yet haven't done I place those icons in top of list. So you asking makes those icons high priority :) (lol, amazing english, lots of _ I _ and _ icons _ ) peace Lars

I saw your work and this icon set couple of weeks ago, and I liked what I saw (but not had time to do any graphical changes). Now I just saw that you picked my muon icon! :) Not only that, it's the center peice and next to RMS hacker song!! Oh my I feel honored! *på knä* tackar! :) Jonas

Fantastic work - great designs. Thanks very much and please keep it going

After roaming through the folders of your icon-set i saw that most mimetypes are placeholders so I was wondering if you are planning on releasing some actual icons for them. I tried fiddling with them by copy-pasting their faenza counterparts but i can't understand how to do that. If it is something really simple could you please just give me a couple of guidelines on how to successfully use the faenza mimetypes with the rest of your excellent iconset?

gardmo

I actually was planning to use the oxygen mimes as fallback since there are crap loads of mimetypes :/ ... but since I put in some mimes (media) I'm not sure how to go forward on that matter... might have to look at other icon sets for some help... :) faenza might work, have to look at that...

gardmo

btw... You do get the Oxygen mimetypes? or do you just get a question-mark - [?] - as it was with the media files.

EternalLight

I get the white-page-with-a-questionmark icon.

gardmo

weird works on my computers, do you have oxygen icons installed? You can try to change the - index.theme - file to some other fallback icon theme if you feel experimental :) change this line in that file: Inherits=oxygen, hicolor --------- If you use Oxygen and change to my theme - logout and login at a vt (ex. ctrl+alt+f1) then execute this: rm -f /var/tmp/kdecache-USERNAME/icon-cache.kcache exit and do - ctr+alt+f7 - log in as usual. Still not right icons? ----------------- pls report your problem and solutions since I'm a noob at this but want to learn the proper way to do things for future projects.

EternalLight

Thanks a lot for your reply, but being the ignorant newbie user that I am, I just went and copy-pasted the mimetype icons of the KFaenza theme in your theme's folders and they work alright now.Tbh I like the faenza mimetypes a lot more than the oxygen ones, but thank you for your help anyway!

almusalimalmusalimah

good thinking when you decided to combine the two of them in one page but can i ask you a favor if its not hard to you .... can you make a new icon in it an called it drakconf i used your theme in my system but it need some new icons for images formats

gardmo

hi, I have only used openSUSE since I started with Linux years ago and Gnome I used like one hour xD Drakconf thats some kind of Mandriva thingy? In order for me to add icons not commonly used in openSUSE it would help if the recuests was made like this (so I don't have to Google my *ss off ;) ex: Drakconf - /apps/drakconf.png (what they are I can google xD :)))

EternalLight

Don't you think that if you merge your dark and light themes in one page here in kde-look they will benefit a lot more by the common votes? There must be lots of people that vote only one of the two themes so they both, individually, get half the votes they deserve.

gardmo

lol, haven't really thought about that:) will do that next update, hehe (all though I wouldn't stop doing 'em even if I only did them for myself ;)

vaxxipooh

This is damn GREAT! Innovative design at its best - i really love those icons. I can hardly wait for the next release - Just one thing . . can you make an Trashcan icon that goes with it ? Anyway this Icons beat's Faenza by miles . you dare stop working on this :-)

gardmo

hehe, replied about the "Trashcan" at the wrong place xD It's nr.2 on my list, after fixing some media mimetypes... Peace Lars

dasein

I really like what you've done. Thanks for sharing your work

An Icon Theme should have a valid .theme file among its files and aim to be complete for desktop use under Gnome or KDE Plasma.

If it contains only a single icon or a small set of icons, please use the Icon Sub-Sets or Single Icon/Logo categories instead.
