with you 100% i dont understand it you get linux because you don't like windows but all you can find on here are themes to make linux look and act like windows as much as possible. Just get windows if your that in love with it.
There's no need to get angry ;-)
This theme is faithful to the one from Windows Vista (or is it 7?). And believe it or not, but some people find it pleasant enough to use it on Linux.
I think the reason why some people invest time and effort in making GNOME/KDE/XFCE/whatever look like Windows is because old habits die hard. Most people are used to Windows and the main reason why they won't change is because they feel Linux is too different from what they know. By giving them a familiar environment - up to the desktop theme - one can hope that more and more of those people will give Linux a try. And, hopefully, see how better it is than Windows - just like we do!
Not necessarily even that; it's just that Microsoft employs professionals who make really nice themes. I say this as a lifetime macOS user (in my pre-Arch days) who just really loves the Vista theme
Sorry, it's ugly, but I've never like any skins from Microsoft.
I'm surprised that you would even tarnish Linux by copying that Booger-schitt and calling it Linux.
You have lots of talent. Let's see what you can do for Linux.
Hello,
I installed emerald onto fedora7 by doing "yum install emerald" (beryl was installed as a dependency.
However, when I go to the emerald theme manager, import the vista theme and then select it, nothing happens. How do I activate the theme?
Any help would be appreciated,
Paul
Hi,
Thanks for the response. I'm not sure what window manager I am using. You mention you are using Compiz. I have compiz installed (yum install compiz, stated so), but I don't know if I'm using it. I use whichever window manager is default for gnome on fedora7.
how would I change my window manager? I've tried googling for this, with not much luck!
You mentioned creating a utube video; that would be great, I'm sure i'm not the only person having this problem,
Thanks again,
Paul.
Well I am using Ubuntu Gusty so I dont know how to manage this on Fedora ?
But I´ll download It and try I´ll come back if I find something out :)
But... This is how I did it:
1.Downloaded and installed Beryl Manager
and emerald theme manager
2.Downloaded and installed Compiz (fusion)
3.Started Beryl Manager and choose Compiz as window manager
person1: Vista sucks!
person2, 3, 4: Shut up.
rinse, repeat.
I myself like the Vista theme. And the OSX theme. I use the OSX one in XP...
I'll try this theme and see if it's better than the Vista emerald theme I'm using right now.
Good work. It's not that I think Linux should be more like Windows, but it should be able to.
"I bought Vista 'cause it looked perty." "Bah. I use the same theme in Linux. How 'bout that BSOD? That look 'perty' too?"
Kinda why I want a flip3d extension for beryl...
There are quite enough vista themes. and besides, vista isn't all that great... windows isn't great at all for that reason.
Why shame something smart like linux with pitiful vista looks?

it is one of the ugliest, worst themes ever created, why anyone would want it on linux is beyond me.
