cant find desktop cube , appearance and skydom in the compiz manager any help thank u
Take this thing down or move it to where it can be downloaded. That endless loop of bullsh** from mediafire isnt fun for dialup users.
I saw some people weren't really sure how to install this so here's how. 1.)Download the .png image and put it anywhere you like for safe keeping. 2.)Go to compizconfig settings manager. If you don't have it you can type in "compiz" into the software center and pull it up for download. 3.)Once you've opened compizdonfig settings manager go to desktop cube, then appearance, now check mark the area that says skydome and find your image with the browse option just below. Now that you have your image up you will want to check animate skydome. That should be it.
hi all,im new user for ubuntu 9.04 really like to install skydome. when i download only get lighting.png.so i make it as wallpaper.when change to cube,no background like the preview. dont know how its work. sorry my english so poor.
Open Compiz Settings Manager. Go to Desktop Cube and click on the Appearance tab. You'll see the Skydome settings towards the bottom. Make sure you check the boxes and there's a browsing window to choose your image. FYI, you can use anything as long as it's at or near the same resolution as your monitor-it can be jpg or png as I recall. Enjoy!

okay so i enable my desktop cube but i click ctrl=alt+right and it flips the image but ctrl+alt+down and nothing which is what im supposed to press right?

i tried to use this skydome, but it's not moving. when 'Animate Skydome' wasn't checked it stretched the picture, when I checked it, it looked good, but it still didn't move. animated skydome should move, right?:)
animated means you can spin around in it like a 3d environment instead of it sitting static in one spot I think - I wish they would call this Panorama not Animated for it is not animated

for ubuntu goto system>preferences>advanced desktop settings(if it is not there install it from synaptic) double click desktop cube>skydome check both skydome and animation and browse to this file. ps: if the background is white: The picture size may not exceed the maximum texture size your graphic card is capable of. You can find the max. texture size this way: Code: xvinfo | grep max So if the answer is 1024 you need to resize a picture of 2048x1024 to 1024x512 in order to use it as a skydome picture.

hello all, first of all this is very awesome...i'm very new to Linux/Ubuntu OS, i've been kinda messing around with the desktop themes & animations, very very cool, i was able to download this cool lightning, but i am stuck. after downloading it, i don't know what to do next to make it work? where do i need to install it and get the animation going also. thank you in advance for you guys' help on this......
I had the white background problem as well. This post helped me: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=2135334&postcount=5 mine returned 1920x1088, so I opened up the file in the GIMP and resized its width to 1920 with the height locked in constant ratio (400 something IIRC). Using the new image worked perfectly.
may back ground is all white...do you know what is causing that?
