Ive desided to upload the K-Theme and put the links as content. This should give you all you need to make your KDE look like this...
Remember this is NOT me saying I think Vista is a good design, but its still fun to mess with ones KDE look and feel...

Hi Can some one please post some installation steps ? thanks
I'm not sure how to install this theme. No README files?
I have repeated issues with polyester, seems to conflict with my nvidia graphic card or something like that (previous version were conflicting with openoffice, 9.3 caused lots of freezes). Anyway , gtk is much ahead in vista-like styiles: take a look at http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=43793
Hi, I would like to test your theme but the link provided goes to a web site that always says that the bandwidth limit for download has been reach and tell me to try again another day ... Can you provide us another link to download your theme ? Thanks again for your work.
I believe this is the correct file... I have to wait till i get home to test... but i got a copy if your getting bandwidth limit message http://triknet.dyndns.org/~Trister/kde_vista/Vista_Theme_KDE.tar.gz
I hate to have to admit this, but without arthur/cairo we still lack the functions to do things like gradient+glass menubars ( http://www.compiz.net/viewtopic.php?id=1718 ) or the streaks along the window background ( http://www.notebookshoppe.com/images/windows_vista_5342_2.jpg )
It looks really nice, but it will look even better if you used the "Waiting for Sunset" Wallpaper: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/14359903/ and made the Menu Button, look more like the start button in this screenshot: http://www.notebookshoppe.com/images/windows_vista_5342_2.jpg Well, there my two cents....lol
I don't think that it is a good idea to use a Windows icon for the KBFX button...
So beautiful!!!! but the start button... I think the vista start button is better than xp
I can't download the file: -------------------------------- Vista_Theme_KDE.tar.gz in KDE Vista theme for KDE By jestersmurf 3 days ago 1132 View(s) Tags: Vista_KDE -------------------------------- Maximum daily bandwidth exceeded The maximum daily bandwidth for this account has been reached. Please try to download this file another day. Thank you, The eSnips Team. --------------------------------
Quite nice, but still kde has no style capable of givin menubars with gradient color + glass effect + white text. Still the more close theme is http://www.compiz.net/viewtopic.php?id=1718 for gnome...
P.S.: don't waste time searching here.... still polyester and qtcurve miss the gradient feature for menubar and qtcurve miss also the white text for menu.
could you make the same for other distros?
I love kde-look, and kde-apps, I have been using Linux witk KDE for five years on my desktop, but... ...i HATE comments such as "Why Windows look?", "It's Linux not Windows!", "We hate Windows look", "Windows look is crap". :/ Linux means freedom and power to create nice things like this theme with lot of quality details. Don't you understand? Please STOP yelling at author with the same mantra. He did a good job.
I fully agree with you: such 'hate' comments totaly suck. Linux is about choice, even if its chosen to be themed like vista and with the vista look and feel MS did a huge step ahead. However, still a little tip regarding your Firefox ... there a some really nice vista themes out there, look at the firefox-category of deviantart.com to fit it to the rest of your desktop
but it don't smell like it. lol Yeh microsoft sux but If you want to skin up your kde go ahead. It's fun. Some people whine about it but I think using opensource and linux then skinning it like microsoft is kinda like flipping the middle finger to microsoft. If you try the reverse to make XP look like Linux kde you would have to download s tons of shareware and ad-ware to get it to work. By then your tired ol software would crash under the load.
if you wan't the ugly vista look, use windows and not linux!!!
Now please, if somebody likes it but he still wants to use Linux, why not. We always have some people who say the same things, isn't that Spam???
at least it is not as ugly as your kbfx-themes
why would us want to make Linux look like windows? vista sux. windows sux. microsoft sux.
