Description:
This is a new cleaner, better rounded version of Titleless (with a new name because the old one was a bit of a mouthful)

I find titlebars to be a bit of a waste of space, all the info that I need is in the window list and I use Alt+drag to move windows and then Alt+1,2,3 as minimise, toggle maximise and close respectively (I set these in gnome shortcuts).

This gives me a chunk more screen real estate and a much cleaner overall look IMHO.

Resizing behaves a bit weirdly thanks to a bug in metacity (note it's fine in compiz). Alt + Middle mouse works perfectly for resizing.

Also please justify any votes, it's really annoying when people vote things down without saying why.

Lovely - I have one with Emerald, very small blend to the shadow - but imho (In my Holy opinion) themes are often overdone and overrated. I love 'sunday' brushed steel finish, Slickness buttons, and OS V for the smallest usable border so far. Yours is useless, of course, and so I shall have it. Internet isn't designed for horizontal monitors, mine's widescreen - so I need the extra ten pixels at the top. No menu's, no borders, but no need to go fullscreen. Cheerz ;)

Hmmmm OS V is interesting - now I miss the function not for dragging, but for maximizing (vertically for web browser, horizontally for package manager) without filling the screen. I guess I need to learn some more about keyboard shortcuts. How about a tiny sacrifice for the smallest buttons you can stick in the top? maybe a similar version - Thinner2 having a few extra pixels?

CookedGryphon

Can you imagine how infuriating that would be? Trying to click buttons that are a pixel or two wide. A better solution would need some major hack to metacity - have the 1pixel buttons but make them expand down into the window when you mouse near them. ... Or set some keyboard shortcuts

This theme is excellent. I've been trying to do something like this for a while using emerald, but I could never get it quite this clean. Thanks!

I have been searching through window borders for quite some time now and could never settle on a specific one. Turns out I don't need window borders/titles at all. This theme is great! Keep up the good work.

I'm really starting to enjoy no borders, even if I'm using an 1600x1200 desktop. Voted good. :)

Somebody stupid admin removed my "no extra crap" theme, but this is the same thing, and it seems to be better made. Thanks for this theme! I hope you don't get voted down. I gave you a positive vote. I really don't understand how some windows vista rip-off themes get high ratings and are not removed due to the fact that they are obvious microsoft rip-offs. Less is more!

SpikeyB

I like this as it's a nice rounded version of the "no extra crap" theme. Unfortunately the theme doesn't work for me. When I select it, the window borders stay on the previously selected theme. Any ideas why?

CookedGryphon

if you run "metacity --replace" in a terminal (the window borders will flash) and then try to select the theme, does it come up with any error messages?

SpikeyB

Thanks for the reply. Here's the error merssage in terminal: /home/spikeyb/.themes/Blhuman/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:195: error: invalid string constant "ubuntulooks-tooltips", expected valid string constant Fontconfig error: Cannot load default config file Window manager warning: Failed to load theme "Titlefree": Line 165 character 1: <menu_icon function="close" state="NORMAL" draw_ops="whatever"/> must be specified for this theme

I've added in the elements your version of metacity wanted, re-download and have a play, do the same again if it still doesn't work. This was my first attempt at a metacity theme so I'm not 100% sure which are required and which are just cruft to be cut out.

SpikeyB

Re-downloaded as you suggested and it works for me now. Not just a great theme but great support as well. Thank you very much.

In Germany we say: "Was der Bauer nicht kennt, dass frisst er nicht" This means something like: "What you don't know you don't like" That's why your first attempt was voted _that_ down. Just don't listen to that Kevins wearing blinkers and go on.

lukeen

just use Alt + MiddleMouseButton for resizing windows.

CookedGryphon

Aha, thanks for that!
