Usplash
Usplash is a software project in the Ubuntu community. Historically, scrolling text "verbose mode" has typically appeared on Linux computers during boot. Usplash replaces the scrolling-text screens with a graphical splash screen. Wikipedia

I would use this if you could get it to either Look and Function like the Atari 5200 or the Atari 7800 Boot Rom, 7800 Preferably. That would be Sick, Sweet none the Less!
When the quiet option is off on boot, the extra info (loading files requiered to boot, etc.) is displayed on a (imho) rather ugly background. Any chance you could make a version with this text on a black background?
Brings back memories. This is working no issues (incl your script) on Feisty.
This splash screen is for bootup, or for login?
I treid, it for boot. But the atari logo never appears, I get kinda of a calibrating singal image... but never the atari logo.
this script has tested on Ubuntu Edgy only, if u uses a different release may dont work, if u uses edgy try to install again, remember, the file .so is must stay in the same directory of script .sh and runs under root
yes i am using edgy amd64. And the splash changed to an image like when the tv goes to a calibrating signal.
umm, the theme dont has been tested on edgy 64bits, but i will see it, and try to solve, if u wants restore the original theme type the command above.
10 4 let me know if there is a fix or something, I really want to use the atari logo.
to recovery the original theme just type: sudo apt-get install ubuntu-artwork-usplash
Is there a way for uninstalling this theme? And recovering the original installed theme? Bye, nice theme
to recovery the original theme just type: sudo apt-get install ubuntu-artwork-usplash
