Note Ubuntu uses LightDM, so you would need to switch to GDM first to use GDM themes:

I agree with the previous comments about realism. But, I like it. It is simple and uncluttered. I am not sure if the HAL9000 logo is needed. (it could be your user id?) Not a good idea to mix your sci-fi's. Space Oddesy 2001 and Star Trek deserve their own themes. But, all said and done, I like it. J
A few years late, I realize, but I can't get this to work. The Shutdown/Reboot/Session buttons at the bottom of the screen do not show up. Instead I just get a grey rectangle. Have the GDM standards changed significantly since this was originally created? Or is this just a distro-specific bug?
good question ... I haven't really maintained this theme since I posted it. If you find a fix, either post the update or let me know and I will post it here.
I honestly don't know what the problem is. The only reason I discovered the bug is because I was looking for a sample xml file that used custom button graphics so I could see how it was done. I've determined that the way it's done there is not the way to do it, but I've only been trying this GDM customization stuff for... two days. But if I suddenly discover the problem I'll let you know.
Oh, I like this one very much, everyone else would have used this stupid UFP Logo. @Design: A login screen is just to empty to use to many control-items, so for me it's very ok. Greets
lcars doesn't really have a login screen anyways.. it uses voice recognition and it tracks people's movements.
First, it's very clean and simple, unlike LCARS themes/skins usually. But it doesn't follow the idea of LCARS as shown in Trek. Not the logic or the style of the layout. Just using the proper colors and the curves in the corners doesn't make it LCARS yet... but as said, this is not overdone and crowded like all other LCARS stuff I've seen
I know what you mean. Perhaps the title should read "LCARS like style" or something along those lines. Then again, I've never seen an actual LCARS login screen on Star Trek. If you have, let me know!!
Oh, haven't you seen when their shift begins they login to their terminals... with user and password...
very kool....
