Ultimate Gnome
Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work):
The "Ultimate Gnome" it's an icon theme for the GNOME linux desktop environment. It is a distro independent theme tested on Gnome 2.24.1 completely drawn with Inkscape. Every icon is drawn in a vectorial format (SVG/XML), and it is exported into a raster format (PNG) for fastest rendering on the screen. The work is published under a GPL (v2), hoping this will help those developers who need a GPL license to include this theme in their software.

2009/02/09 v0.5.1: Changed cut, paste and copy icons. PNG release for faster rendering and better quality.

29/11/2008 There are some problems with GNOME 2.24.1 that cannot be resolved. I'm waiting for gnome to fix them. 404'd, sadly. :(

Excellent work, thanks a lot!
I am so pleased you have started developing Ultimate Gnome again. It has been in regular use on my desktop since I first downloaded it a couple of years ago. Please continue!
Nice to see that this still gets updates. Can this be updated for Gnome 3 and Unity? (In Unity's case, there appears to be no icon for the workspace switcher.)
If the author is still getting messages from this, I'd love to see this get updated, particularly with Mint 15/Cinnamon in-mind.
This is really nice !!! I adopted ! Thank you for sharing this magnificent icon theme.
Real Linux! Thanks!
I was just scrolling through the "highest rated" icons on Gnome-Look and came across these. Great, great icon set. Thanks very much for your work!
Reminds me Amiga OS :)))) Great Job, keep workin'
Thank you
Nice work. Maybe are the red icons (like the pdf doc one) too much contrasting with the other ones?
Yes you are right, but the theme will be too blue if I change those icons. Leaving instead some red, yellow, green icon gives the theme a neutral appearance.
A new release with full support for PNG icons (for a faster rendering) will be out on Monday.
the fittest icon with chrome theme
Great set of icons this is. Too bad though that you use the same icon for log-out and shutdown.
They are the same in a lot of icon themes. Are you talking about the red icon? Could you suggest something different? Anyway thank you for your comment.
For instance, like Hydrogen set has a blue icon for log-out and the red one for shutdown. Just downloaded the updated version which makes it more distinguished already. :) Keep it up!
I'll check it, thank you very much.
Thank You! Very nice icons, simple and clear.
I'm a bit busy in these days, so I'm not making a lot of changes and improvements. Right now I'm working to change the license in every SVG file so it will be changed from Creative Commons to GPL (2 or 3 I don't know). Hoping this will help those developers that need GPL license for their software.
I really love this theme! It's just great! Thanks so much! :D
I enjoy the update - do you see any other colors in the future like Graphite or the Yellow folder type? Keep up the good work
I want to make a human-like version in the near future and maybe also a graphite version.
Finally I choose a new icon for the file system. I have to say that I love both the old and the new one. But the new icon is more intuitive and this is really important.
