Murrina-Elegant
Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work):
Description:
My first gtk-theme is a murrine port and modification of the theme "Elegant for Rent" by rent0n: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Elegant+for+Rent+?content=97917. The included metacity theme is "Elegant for Rent" by Drakfire, with the title moved back to center and outlined to bottom.
I modded Elegant for Rent because murrine is said to be a faster engine than pixmap, I added a little more roundness and also the theme is now much easier to modify than by gimping all .png-s. There are now only three left: an invisible null.png for items we don't need to see (like handles and separators), the important menubar with the blue border at the bottom and a resize-grip. If you want to change colors just replace the #659FDB in the gtkrc file and gimp the menubar.
The theme wants to be easy, with clean windows, not too much bling bling but still elegant.
Suggested icon themes:
>> Tango (in ubuntu: apt-get install tango-icon-theme tango-icon-theme-extras)
>> Erectus-Blue - http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Chromo-Erectus?content=101194
>> GNOME-Brave (in ubuntu: apt-get install gnome-brave-icon-theme)
>> Google - http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Google+2.0-Beta?content=110466
>> LaGaDesk-BlueNight - http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/LaGaDesk-BlueNight?content=109343
Known issues:
>> In Karmic this is almost solved, but I've included a README in the gtk-2.0 folder of the theme with solutions for openoffice.org and firefox.
>> Midori has some small issues; for some solutions check the readme.
>> In nautilus, the sidepane if set to 'information' uses black background for buttons that have black text. I doubt if someone uses it, but suggestions to solve this are welcome.
>> The open file / save as dialogs fill empty space with the light blue color of the sidepanes; solutions on how to part sidepane color and these colors are welcome.
