Description: This is more a conceptual idea than a true wallpaper. I figure, if it's releasd as opensource and gpl'd then shouldn't we upload the gimp formatted .xcf file?
If you release an image under the GPL then you need to give out the preferred form for creation as well (in the case of a GIMP'ed image that would be the .xcf, for a Photoshop image it would be the .psd). But even beyond that, you need to include a copy of the GPL with the image. Which is something which very few if any images here supposedly under the GPL, do.
Using PNG as an image format instead of JPEG is OK. There's no patent issue for PNG. However, XCF may be OK but it's quite a large file size if it contains multiple layer.

Yea, I had to make a tar.gz to upload it.
