I can't take any more of these. It's the posts more than the wallpaper. The art is crap. End of story. And it just keeps coming. More than once, apparently. If this keeps going, most of the WPs on kde-look are going to be this guys poorly thought out, other-peoples quotes on space backgrounds that were probably downladed from NASA in the public domain. Everybody's just going to go back to using barely-more-friendly-than-a-command line window managers just so they can be confident that they won't have nightmares about their desktops being overrun with this tripe. I am also posting now, as opposed to 60 of this jokers wallpapers ago because of the quote on this one. You want to believe what you want to believe. If you don't want to listen to reason, fine. That's your prerogative. But what is this? I think I'm going to use this wallpaper, just so I can always keep in mind how crazy people can be. I mean, excepting that this one guys *opinion* seems to be touted as a reason to believe a 2000 year old book is in some way special, to say "there are no blind forces worth speaking about in nature" is nothing short of *insane*. The next time you get out of bed, and don't end up floating off into space, ask yourself, "does gravity have eyes?" Forces are kinda inherently blind. Take a physics class, chum. Not even necessarily one that involves calculus. I don't want the shock that you might actually be wrong to cause an aneurism, after all. Hey, even better than that, don't make anymore wallpaper. If there are no blind forces worth talking about, you shouldn't bother talking about electromagnetism, so you have no business being on something like a computer. Have a splendid life with the amish. Also, this "numbers one calculates" nonsense. I think even if one of my majors weren't math, I'd be able to see that the rest of that statement doesn't deal with anything that *can* be calculated. Nor any facts, if the facts could, *in fact* be translated into numbers. So, I have to ask, what is this guy talking about? Also, I wonder why none of your wallpapers include quotes from modern, and, generally accepted, brilliant scientists? [Other than Einstein... who was a jew, I'll remind all the conservative Catholics] I mean, how about some Hawking? Richard Feynmann perhaps? Another thing, just for Chris308. How is consistent ratings of < 40% after a few hours indicate that *anyone* is starting to acknowledge any Gimp proficiency? I mean, come on! Says who? And another thing... I would love to hear *one* *conclusive* *scientific* finding that in any way supports the Christian view of the world. (For "view," read "rose-colored, bible-tinted glasses version) The only "scientists" that come to any biblical "conclusion" are the ones that are employed by organizations like the Christian "Science" Foundation, and get pay checks from your weekly tithe... or they just got really sick of having your ruddy message pounded at them in the face of persecution... Copernicus, or Galileo, just to throw a couple out there... Finally, here's the bottom line: Obviously, I am an atheist. I think, honestly, if you want your christian wallpaper, have it. If you want it loaded up with half baked arguments, fine. (To back this up, I would be happy to get an anonymous e-mail address and reply, as respectfully as you address me, to any argument you have. Message boards are bad places to talk religion.) There are real reasons people get upset about stuff like this. Here are a few as I see them. 1) Tim doesn't respond to anything non-patronizing. If you want "the message" out there, as Jesus apparently did, you would probably listen to people and respond to those that didn't like it... as Jesus apparently did. I don't want to use the words "cowardice" or "hypocritical" but the more I think about it, the more I think you don't have an excuse. 2) We're sick of christian arrogance. I can't speak for everyone, but *I* know that generally, intentions are good. You like your beliefs, and you want to share them with everyone. The problem is that you don't so much share as force feed. It's one thing to be like, "hey, you heard the word?" but another thing to be like, "you heard the word? what? you don't like it? but what about... [insert sixteen hours of crap we've already heard]" You like your religion. I'm sincerely happy for you. Leave me alone about it. I am allowed to disagree. Do not patronize me. You are not special because you believe in something I don't. If you really believe God made us all, he made me too, and if he didn't want me to have the option of ignoring the word, he wouldn't have given it to me. It's a matter of simple respect. I respect what you want for your life, but I don't feel that you respect that I can want something else. Life is NOT one-size-fits-all. Ask a janitor or a garbage collector. 3) Make a wallpaper that would take a well-trained monkey more that 20 minutes to put together. Call it "Clayton is the biggest idiot in the world." Seriously. And then on top of this not-awful image, put whatever you want, "GOD ROCKS!" or perhaps the whole bible in tiny letters. Maybe a picture of me with devil horns, and a horrible slanderous, swear-word encrusted slogan underneath, alerting the world to my being the anti-christ. If you do this, whatever it is, I promise you, I swear to you, on anything and everything that is one little bit important to me, I will use that wallpaper on ALL 4 desktops (I'll even make it 8 if you want) for no less than a week. Seriously. Dead seriously. I'm done now. If I offended anyone, I am earnestly sorry, but I call 'em like I see 'em. If it helps, remember that it's silly to get offended by some silly words written by some silly (and a trifle obnoxious) 22 year old kid. Later all, Clayton

Hi Tim, At it again I see. Are you going to continue to revive your old wallpapers to get them back into the spotlight? Recycling is usually a good thing but in this case I doubt that is the case. On the subject of the wallpaper: some say everything in nature must have been created because such complexity cannot come into existence by itself. I guess you support that. According to some earlier comments by you and by some others God just exists and was not created, yet he is perfect and complex superior being. Do you see the contradiction here?

skal

Tim's constant recycling of images creates great suspicions in me, regarding his overall honesty and how it relates to his fan base and the download numbers. I detect false witness. But that's ok, I guess. These days, superior morality seems to trump good ethics. Or so the superior moralists would have you believe.

muttox

looks nice, your works getting better. maybe you could try a more complex background for your next one?

I really like your last few wallpapers. Even the ones that don't like your message are starting to acknowledge these as making good use of the Gimp. I personally feel that this style or presentation for your message is the most effective. After all, many of those that study the sciences eventually come to the conclusion that the world is too orderly to not have a designer. Those that do not believe tend to accept statements from the scientific community more than those from us humble believers. The more they see the scientific community express their faith and belief in the creator, the more likely they will too.

timbrown527

yeah, I agree! By the way, it's VERY ironic that you mention "order". I'm working on the next one. Maybe I'll send you a sample... Tim
