Description: A plea from the Savior, who's birth we celebrate this month at Christmas.
Done in the Gimp, for "Whosoever..."
If you haven't yet done so, and have the time, why not send KDE-LOOK an email and thank them for allowing a diverse array of work? Thanks!Last changelog:
RANT MODE = ON
I wouldn't vote this down on it's merits, but for the fact that it is, for all intents and purposes, spam!
Intent - force message upon others not wanting it in unrelated forum.
Purpose - to execute intent for personal gain and gratification!
Spam - Bulk, unwanted messages.
Tthis is a forum for KDE look and feel stuff. Not spamming the kde community with your own petty and self centered beliefs.
Yes, this is a rant, but this joker is getting annoying. He is selfish and cares not one wit for the "souls" of others, but for his own gratification of "God like me better cause I try to convert people!" I suspect he is like most "Christians" in this regard.
RANT MORE = OFF
What if it's just meant for other people with perhaps the same beliefs to download? What if it's not meant to spread a message? Perhaps you shouldn't assume that no one likes it even if many don't.
I'm amazed that some people actually want to ban these sort of things! There is nothing offensive or illegal in christian wallpapers. If you can't stand them, why can't you just ignore them. After all nobody is forcing you to use them.
Thanks for a great obsrvation. As a matter of fact, many of my submissions openly have "For other Christians" *Plainly* worded in the description...then you go down the thread and see this kind of stuff....even after I remind them of who it is for...
Thanks, and Merry Christmas!
Tim
What if it's not meant to spread a message?
It is according to Tim if you read some of his comments. Comments allong the lines of "the message is more important than the art" and:
I think it was Peter who underscored this principle when he said in his epistle to preach the Word, "in season and out of season". In other words, regardless of "appropriateness" or consequences. Whether you're ready or not. Whether it's on friendly turf or not. The stakes are too high. If we wait till we're given "permission", we'll never be able to speak!
Need we say more?
I think you've answered your own arguement. They are specifically wallpapers for people of a certain belief. Do you not think there are more appropriate places to post them?
Particularly when the art is secondary to the message.
Recently in a forum on cycling I frequent there was a community movement to reduce the number of off topic posts that were out numbering the material the forum was designed to support. Similar here. We are seeing a flood of this material that has little relevance to the site.
Oh, and I'm not the only one to point out the trivial updates to keep them on the front page and to get the percentages back up....
If you haven't yet done so, and have the time, why not send KDE-LOOK an email and thank them for allowing a diverse array of work? Thanks!
Ahem..that's rich comming from someone who doesn't seem to respect the voting system that was put in place. You are just abusing KDE-look to spread your message. You yourself have more than once said that "the message" is the important, not the art. Maybe we should send an e-mail to KDE-look to notify the admin that the site is being hijacked by some religious fanatic.

Trying to make it look like you are being persecuted because of your beliefs?
That's rich. It's like coming up to me in the street and preaching on about something and then screaming persecution when I ask you to go away. It's not because of what you are, but your presumption that I should be listening to you.
To quote:
"Is it coz I is black?"
"No it's because you're a twat"
Can you not find a more appropriate forum to peddle your beliefs? Why don't you take a hint from you persistantly low ratings (32% at the time of posting) and stop posting this crap?
You are a troll plain and simple.
"32%" Sorry, and inaccuracy there, I cut and pasted the comment from my reply to the authors previous posting. (Repeating myself as he didn't bother to answer)
I think it's nice. Maybe you could put the KDE logo above his head. I think he uses KDE anyway right? Couldn't possibly be a gnome user. Will you add the logo? Maybe you could do one with logo in the arms on a light blue background.
Cheers
Maybe because it is just a gradient with some clipart figure (Obi Wan Kenobi?)pasted in the centre? Anyone can knock up a wallpaper like this in just a couple of minutes, and that is if they are slow workers. No artistic skills required.
If you look at the artists work, ALL of his posts are rated below 50%. Oh, I wonder what else they have in common? That's right he's trying to push his beliefs, the art is secondary to that.

Yep most of them seem to hover around the 30% threshold, but I have a sneaky suspicion that will change. Some of these wallpapers have been on the site for weeks if not months and for some strange reason their rating seems to have started improving. Tim's wallpapers seem to have have been rediscovered. Or maybe it's a case of divine intervention? And then there are the trivial "updates" when ratings on wallpapers fall. I guess Tim doesn't like his message getting obscured by some silly voting system.
Hi.
The low scores are typical of what Christian wallpapers get here. There are two other people who have posted them..."Alethia" and "Groundhog3000". Both have typically had the same happen to them...and some have now disappeared after staying in the 30's. Whether they were zerod out or the poster removed them, I don't know.
The only exception I've seen so far is one that simply has "faith", "hope", "love" on it. It's doing pretty well, but then the message isn't very pointed.
The common point in all of the Christian papers is the message. I've posted things here with no message, then added one, only to see the score go down afterwords. No other changes...and I added the text for that purpose.
The Christian community here at KDE-LOOK is a minority, but there is one here. And that is who I target. As a matter of fact, I have generally made a point to stipulate that my wallpapers are for other believers. You wouldn't think that by some of the responses you read. I never expect the score to be high because, as I mentioned, we are the minority. I basically judge by the number of downloads. That is the TRUE "yes" vote...in fact, I'd argue that it should register as a vote...some download and don't vote at all. The voting system is overrated.
Thanks for the question. It's relevant.
Tim
Looks ok, not my thing, the whole god stuff...
But I'm pretty sure I've seen that image somewhere. Maybe a cartoon about Jesus. Was it public domained? If it was, could you let us know where you got it. Could be usefull.
Whether you're is religious or despises religion, you can't deny that these 2 wallpapers are well done. Great work - nice and simplistic.
Please, don't vote this guy's submission down just because you don't like the message. These are actually good wallpapers.

Nice to see you are still being selective who you reply to ;-)
So...if someone posted a kkk-poster (to name some other religious people) and wrote "for KKK minded people only" that would be ok according to you?

I can't see anything wrong with it. Why does it have such a low score???

Please make 1024x768 version. Can't do it myself :)
Sure thing! Tim

Excellent . No need for 'imho'.. what would it matter ? : - )
You know, I really appreciate your kindness. Thanks! Tim
