3 years later.. nothing has changed.. people slap horribly pixelated highly jpeg compressed ubuntu logos on anything and call it a wallpaper, and the ubuntu newbies eat it up. there are thousands of horrid ubuntu walls and not much of anything else anymore.ive almost stopped looking for wallapapers on gnome-look. :(
2 years later , always the same shit ... :[
I can't say that I agree with the level of hostility you display, HOWEVER... I think this could be made into a general statement about all Linux distros. It's just happened that Ubuntu is the one receiving the most attention at this point in time. I remember a plethora of crap LOL GENTOO branded wallpapers on this site back when that was the hot popular distro. This site really needs more content that is truly open-source/linux/GNOME oriented. At this point, any moron could just hop on deviant art, download a cool looking wallpaper, and plop a $DISTRO logo on it and have no need for this site. As a side note, your insults towards the Ubuntu community specifically in your "changelog" are completely uncalled for. Every distro has suffered the problems mentioned at one point (probably with the exception of some of the more mature noncommercial ones like Debian and Slackware, but I could be wrong, since I was not involved in open source at their inception.
And to think I use that distro. The day smells are able to come through our speakers, is the day I will burn your wallpaper to the ground with a makeshift torch. :D
It's all in good fun guys; No harm intended. And the dragonfly images were great. You took them yourself correct? What I was making a joke of was not pointed at people snapping images and using them, but people using *any* image they can find with extra space, and tagging it.
If you think Ubuntu users know nothing, try talking to the Windoze "community." Really, those are crude steriotypes about Ubuntu. I asked the Ubuntu community for support, and they didn't "Googleit" me. -SSU
yeah, felt like a good joke.
This is the type of hostility that I can't stand within the Linux community. I am not new to Linux. I have tried tons of distros and I have loved some and hated others. The thing that I like about Linux is the choice. I choose Ubuntu! Jereme
Same here. Cut my teeth on Debian in '96, ran Gentoo for years, currently run Ubuntu and love it. But I know how to laugh at a ribbing.
Yeah, I am sorry that I got my underwear in a bunch. It just hit me wrong. Probably because I had just uploaded some of those 'horrid images". I should have taken it in the spirit that it was intended. A joke. Jereme
okay, that got a chuckle.
Especially since it has the [fresh] tag next to it. I can almost smell the freshness...
