Hey, i'm glad you like it. On KUBUNTU there a really simple way to do it, but i have no idea how to do it on ubuntu... If you find something just please let me know :)
I found a program that sets a random wallpaper from a configurable list every login. it is also able to do a timed wallpaper change. its name is wallpaper-tray. I'm using it under debian but think it is available in the ubuntu repositories too.

looks good do you know a way to display a seperate wallpaper for every workspace?
