This is really nice. Easy on the eyes, and my fave distro. ;) Now, for my suggestions...
First off, get rid of the black border along the edges. For those of us who use a transparent panel, it looks a little funky. I use a Tiny-size transparent panel at the top of the screen, and the black edge, and the contrast between the blue there, makes any color text I try for the clock, etc, hard to read.
Second, a 1280x1024 version would be nice. ;)

I think this should be the offial gentoo bootsplash screen, this is so good. the official at this moment sucks. Nice art work! :)
