0.1 : proof of concept. If enough people like this I may do some more work on it
0.2 : instead of pasting progressively smaller layers on top, I tried cutting out areas from the top layer and mergeing that way. I think it looks a bit better. Noticed that the original images have shadows going in different directions.

Very nice concept. The transition from winter into spring is a bit blurred, but great job!
Agreed. got a bit carried away with the smudge tool :(. Not to worry, had fun with gimp making it!
