i tried to make an antique looking theme,
there are some innovations involved, like background colored input field, and theme font and colour extended to gdm menu (options menu)etc,
the background image by "valdstudio", image is called "old France" taken from internet
the scroll image is also taken from internet,
the rest of it is text and created by me
as usual comments are encouraged
note: works well on 1024x768 res, other resolutions are not tested, (although i think every thing gets messed up in 800x600 res)
installation: standard procedure applies ,
administration>login window>local(tab)
drag the tarball on to it, and u r done...
enjoy...

ya i agree, modifying existing themes (slightly) is, ok but it doesnt give proper satisfaction... ! ;)
