Hey 'klamsd'. There does not have to be the black contrast. All you have to do is change the window border in System>Preferences>Theme>Customize>Window Border.

randell6564

Where did you get the wallpaper for this one?

ComplexNumber

this is the one: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/33603869/?q=ethereal+kanjis&qh=boost%3Apopular+age_sigma%3A24h+age_scale%3A5

ComplexNumber

i forgot to mention, i made the white areas transparent so that it has the same colour as the background.

IMO, the contrast between the black and green is very appealing. I am downloading every color (for whatever mood I might be in!) Keep up the good work!

ComplexNumber

thanks :). the sharp contrast was partly what i set out to do.

The problem with this theme in general is that there is an overuse of a very bright colour (lime green in this case) with tones of a very dark colour (black). There isn't a consistency in colours and so the colour contrast seems to clash with each other. I can't design themes so I don't know the specifics but this is why this theme doesn't look too good in my opinion. Btw I did not vote this down or up. The Gnome community needs more artists IMHO and so improvement is always possible!

i can see exactly what you mean. if you have a look at my blurb for the Ghostly Blue theme, i've mentioned that about the intensity of the background and other 'issues'. the thing is, i actually intended for that to be the case - ie the sharp contrast of colours. i admit its intense, but i've designed several other backgrounds of a less intense nature that i can use instead. i may release it again with a suitably less intense background. i don't know yet. strangely, i didn't think those less intense backgrounds looked as effective in my eyes. the thing is, because i'm quite a beginner and this is my first series of pixmap based themes that i've ever done, i'm playing with ideas to try something new. a appreciate your feedback though :). thanks anyway.

vexati0n

kinda ugly.

ComplexNumber

i don't think it looks ugly. intense, yes. ugly, no. the only reason why i made the green, the red, and the purple ones was just in case some people liked the style and wanted one in a different colour from blue. the blue one was the original theme. one of the reasons why i did the theme in the first place was to try something new. i don't think there is anything wrong in trying to do something that's a little different.

vexati0n

don't mind me, i'm just an a**hole.
