Description:
This is a more Macish theme. The original theme has been meticulously edited to make it look like Leopard. Credit for creating goes to the original author, Kim on whose work this theme is based upon.

The aim of this theme is to emulate Mac OS X Leopard interface.

The inactive titlebar transparency is because of the Emerald theme and the drop shadow is because of Compiz/Beryl. The icons used here are Leopard Icons from the Mac4Lin pack.

The whole pack can be downloaded from: http://sourceforge.net/projects/mac4lin

A new version 0.3 of Mac4Lin has just been released. Do check it out. Its bigger, better and more refined!

Download the project documentation (PDF) from the project website. It has instructions to shift the buttons on the left of title bar.

Hallo!: Thanks a lot for your effort to bring a "Mac-ish" "Look&Feel" for our Linux and Gnome Systems!. Recently I installed a full set of "Mac4Lin" ver. 0.4 and it works fine for me in my HP LapTop: Gentoo Linux + Gnome 2.20.1... Since now I only have a minors issues with gnome shutdown and logoff applets. The dialog window appears "striped" and the buttons don't have "crystal" buttons. Beagle Icon in system tray is the "original" icon not "custom" one. You have done a great job! thanks!

Hi, great icon theme. I use your mac4lin 'everything' theme, but I have one issue: the folders video, pictures, system and so on don't have any image. They are regular folders. Do you know why? In your screenshot. Thanks

pmontalvao

Sorry, wrong topic. But I've already figured it out. Thanks

wheeeeee

arrrrgh..... i had to uninstall this theme... no matter what control theme i chose, it remained on this theme. What made that happen?

I like this a lot. Great work! Thank you a lot. But I can't seem to get some things just right. So I'm not there _just_ yet. How can you got the Nautilus file browser to show just icons in main panel? Gconf or something? And the battery status indicator, my one still uses the older icons. Must replace them in /usr/share/icons/gnome? Also the keyboard layout indicator doesn't seem to show flags, so I must try find an alternate. And lastly I can't seem to find a nice theme for Thunderbird! Driving me crazy! I was using the Think Different background for a while, but then I used it just for the grub screen, and used the "Think Linux" bootsplash and same for wall paper ... so it's like "Think Different, Think Linux". Or something.

i love the "Think Different" background...very appropriate for a theme which copies leopard.

I'll look into the matter soon regarding index.theme Thanks for pointing out regarding the tabs. May I know what problem are you facing?

Anywhere

The problem with the tabs (inherited from another theme???) is that they look like they were hand-drawn by an amature. They don't match the rest of the theme, which looks sharp and professional. I don't own a copy of leopard myself, but take a look at this picture, which appears to show leopard's tabs. Can you aim for something like that? http://www.blazenewmedia.com/media/leopard_10_5_finder.jpg All-in-all, it's "almost" perfect. Straighten out the tabs, and it will be my mac-a-like theme of choice.

kikke

Something is wrong with tabs.

AlexOK

by the way. where did you get the bottom bar to look like that?

auntaunt

it's avant window navigator mate! check this site for more details. http://code.google.com/p/avant-window-navigator/

I installed this theme by dragging and dropping the tar.gz file into the Apearance preferences in Ubuntu 7.10 and I noticed the package does not have an index.theme file on it; for such, the theme does not appear listed along the other themes. Are you all guys going to include the index.theme file the next version? or perhaps is somthing you forgot at the moment when you built the package? I always like to add the themes in to /usr/shares/themes so I can share the theme system wide; but it does not work without the index.theme file. Or maybe I'm mistaken and it doesn't fully integrate with gnome 2.20, since I read the icons doesn't work on that version.

kryptik

good job man, i would like to know how to used the alternate folders. like you have in the screenshot, thanks.

infrareddude

Right click on the folder > properties. In the Basic page click on the folder icon and browse to the place where this theme is installed (/home/<username>/.icons/<mac4lin theme folder>/EXTRAS) You will find almost all the icons there. Select the one you like.

kryptik

thanks :)
