Description:
gFlat is a gtk-engine using cairo and is based on clearlooks.
i addet some options in the gtkrc:
cornerstyle: specify if you want rounded cornerst or not
scrollbarstyle: specify if you want strokes on the scrollbar (see screenshot 1)
progressbarstyle: specify if you want arrows for the progressbar strokes or the original clearlooks style.

if this options are not set, the engine takes the default value.

NOTE: on my 2nd system i had to logout and login after selecting this theme because ther were some funny colors on the widgets. after this it worked.

PS: productive comments are always welcome!

Try the engine together with the gFlat metacity theme by bvc!
Last changelog:

0.3: all options in the gtkrc work now, new menubarstyle, 2nd buttonstyle
0.2: changed color of the pressed buttons (are darker now), made the handle darker, addet an option to control the button-borders, and one to control the transparency of the scrollbar-strokes (for details see the gtkrc file)
0.1.1: no changes, package includes now my libgflat.so and libgflat.la (fc5, 32 bit)
0.1.1: changed style of the list view header and handle.
0.1: first release

Here is a Ubuntu package if anyone wants it.(Tested on Gutsy) http://www.4shared.com/file/28829204/cf42459f/gtk2-engines-gflat_03_all.html It has the 2 themes as well.

pox

Excuse me for my ignorance XD I've downloaded the engine, ran $ ./configure $ make $ sudo make install and all went finally, seems to be installed fine, but how do I use it!? I downloaded a theme that uses it and enabled the theme, but it just displayed what looked like the system default - I'm guessing because the GTK engine is not enabled. How do I use the engine? Any help appreciated :)

there.

Fedorateur

Hmmm you are so explicit

olinux

sorry. there is a very light gradient. you can see this by using a color chooser and click on 2 different areas on the menuitem and then you´ll see that the 2 colors are different. but i´ll make the gradient stronger

Fedorateur

Please make a gradient for the menu, and the end of progressbar bug still ... the theme promise. it's so beautiful

olinux

do you mean the menuitems? they have a gradient.

oh you mean that there is a function like gflat_draw_borders whichdraws the outlines for each object? what has this for a advantage in your opinion?

brainkillah

...but I would really appreaciate if you included (at least as an option in gtkrc, if something like that is doable) possibilty to have the outlines separating gui elements.Otherwise, great theme...

olinux

i don´t know exactyly what u mean. what outlines do u mean?

nunogomes

getting better with every release :) while i really liked this theme because it had square corners ive found the way u implemented round ones (as chosen in the gtk file) is much sexier than in clearlooks keep up the good work!

olinux

on goal of my engine should be to be more controlable by the gtkrc than clearlooks.

cimi86

yes this theme seems much better than rezlooks!

olinux

no no rezlooks is also a very good engine...

olinux

but thanks very much!

the whatsitcalled, systray/panel separator is much niceer now :) a pressed button, for example save button in gedit, has a very dull brownish border colour that i dont like so much there are no separators between the various part of a program, for example between button bar and the text menu bar thing in gedit.maybe ill get used to it the lines that separates entries in menus are very hard, for example if u rightclick desktop the popup menu has very dark hard lines.maybe its a matter of getting used to too :)

olinux

yes these is still much to chang. at the moment i have not so much time to improve the engine (school...)but after thursday i have much time for this things.

olinux

thanks for the productive tips!

lokheed

Nice work. I think the lines on the scrollbar looks really tacky and is a little too much. Other than that, its a great start :)

bvc

that's one of the things I liked

olinux

probably you don´t like the strokes on the scrollbar - i can´t make all out here happy :D but you an disable them (see description) olinux
