I originally made it with gnome 2.18 in mind with a transparent pixmap where the colour would be determined by the background colour, but it meant having bright blue/green/red/etc elsewhere and which didn't look nice at all. Therefore, i had to create several separate colour mods.
There are some ugly areas and rough-around-the-edges aspects that i'm not happy with, so i hope that i can rectify them over the next few weeks/months. I also may make the background less intense, but that may spoil what i set out to achieve.
I hope you like it anyway. Please leave some feedback, and possibly include how it could be improved

The icon theme that i've used in the screenshot is glass. you can get it here:

The metacity theme that i've used is the metacity theme in LiNsta3. You can get LiNsta here:

Install manually, not through the gnome theme manager.

Aero was used a template to write my theme rather than having to write a theme completely from scratch. There are very few components or code remaining from the original theme, though.
I have taken the menubar from BrushedChrome and edited it to fit with mine.
All credit to the authors of the above themes.
Update
Ubuntu deb added. Thanks to Chrispy for hosting.

Congrats, i think this is a very nice theme, i vote good, i was wondering if there is any chance for a black version instead of blue
thanks ;). black? surely you're joking :D. that would mean that you wouldn't see anything at all. maybe you mean dark grey. i guess its possible. i may give it a try if you're interested in using it.
This is THE most awsome theme that I've EVER seen thus far! I love the sense of depth, and luminosity! You inspire me to learn how to create themes! Great Job! BTW.,How DOES one go about creating themes?
thanks for the kudos :). i'm still a beginner myself, so i can only tell you how i have gone about making themes. a few months ago, i started doing simple colour mods of various themes, and this enabled me to become acquainted with the various colour controls(eg bg[NORMAL] etc) and the various widgets. this theme stems from the first pixmap theme i have attempted. pixmap themes are rather more involved as it means that you have to create the various widgets yourself. i have found this to be useful as a reference: http://developer.gnome.org/doc/API/2.0/gtk/ i think the best way to learn about theming is to first take a theme and change the colours and settings within the gtkrc file around to see what effect it has. hope that helps.
it looks nice, ill try it ;)
thanks - glad you like it. i really appreciate it :). i worked really hard on these themes. dark themes are really difficult to get just right.
I've created .debs (for debian/ubuntu) of your 4 themes, take a look at my website: http://www.alice-dsl.net/dragonfly/ ;)
hey! nice one there, Chrispy :). thanks!
