Description:
Every time I install some new package or program, I add it in the K-menu. But adding icons into menu is not easy.

There is a MenuDrake for example in Mandrake Linux. That's ok, but that system menu and root menu just doesnt work. And icons are allways sorted with names. Why's that so, I want it my way. So I rather add icons manualy in console.

Why isn't manager for K-menu built in KDE, like Control center. In the end the K-menu is a part of KDE. So all distros would use the same thing.

I made a screenshot of a sample, as a single dialog. It maybe looks strange, but other people can do way better than me... ))

Hi, I'm confused about the way of KMenu get its entries. For example, in Debian, we found three directories: 1 - /usr/share/applnk 2 - /var/lib/menu/kde 3 - ~/.kde/share/applnk I suppose 1 is the system menu, all users will have that menu structure. Number 2 I have no idea and 3 are the user specific entries. Lets suppose I wants to change the menu structure. How could I translate the new structure for some languages? What is the file that contains the i18n of KMenu directories? tnx!

Actually, KDE has a wonderful menu manager, called KMenuEdit. Mandrake Linux however, replaces all menus of all desktops with their "Mandrake menu". To accomplish this, they had to disable kmenuedit in their KDE release. However, recent freedesktop.org standards provide a new way for menus to be stored in a cross-desktop compatible way. Hopefully by the next major release of Gnome, KDe, XPDE, etc., the Mandrake Menu will no longer be necessary.

Looks good, much better than the current kmenu editor. Make it!

You can right click on the K menu, and click on "Menu editor," but that menu editor sucks. Editing the K menu should be more like adding menu items to the start menu in Windows.
