Description: Finally E got KDE window manager hint support!!!
Go to http://www.enlightenment.org/pages/news.html and get the sources of E 16.6pre3 from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=2 (or the download link).
For me it works best to start enlightenment and then to launch kicker. You may also try to change the startkde script.
It still does not work perfectly, but good enough for me. Problems I encountered so far:
- System Tray Icons do not work properly. They appear in a new Window -> No big problem with E, set the Window style to borderless and place them somewhere on your desktop. - Transparency in KDE apps does not work properly (e.g. transparent konsole) unless you start kdesktop --x-root. - I don't know yet, how to get the icons on the desktop. - Konqueror shows Java applets in separate windows.
But hey. Now you can combine the power of KDE with one of the best window managers. Have a look on the iconified windows on the bottom of the first screenshot and the different window decorations. Try the excellent enlightenment pager. Get the fanciest window decorations.
If you have any tipps, how to make E work better with KDE, or encounter any other problems, let me hear.Last changelog:

a screenshot of my current kde + enlightenment.

all kinda works , there are only a few details

How did you manage do get the icons on the desktop? Are you starting E and then kicker and the rest (what else?) manually or have you modified startkde?
Cool Enlightenment theme. Where did you get this?
i start kde normal
then i do a kill to kwin , and start enlightenment.... thats pretty much it
i do have to have background consistency ( the same background for enlightenment as for kdesktop )
enlightenment must be started after everything , if not , the icons and systray will not work.
the theme is at freshmeat.net themes for enlightenment ( sort it by date )
Regarding icons, I just remembered that E uses a text file to store the position and function of icons. Unfortunately, it's been over three years since I last used E (left it for KDE :) and I don't quite remember the details. It should probably go into your .enlightenment directory, but I don't remember much more. There might be an example file in the system-wide directory (/usr/share/enlightenment?), however.
How well does Karamba work under E? If there are no transparency issues, then I think I'm going to start working on that E theme I've always wanted to make. :)

Karamba might work, if you start kdesktop --x-root after launching E. It certainly does not work with the X background.
