I love this look. Would love to be able to use it.
I agree with awakatanka if we make things that look like windows or Mac that is a good thing!!
I dont know how to install this theme in my kbfx
This is currently just a mockup. It is not a finished/refined theme. :)
Why people burn down everything that looks like MS. MS is good in making things very user friendly. Why not copy there good things and make it better? MS is also copying the good things from other OS's why wouldn't we do the same. Some are rejecting to much because its MS, thats also why somethings will never be user friendly in linux.
I agree.
Ok sorry for my above post. Just looked at it and have really bad grammar in it... Esh next time I should read before I post. I for one like this. Why? because it shows how you can make Linux look like anything you want it to look like. Also this is good for people who have to use Windows because their company or school wont let you use another OS so you can trick them into thinking its Windows. Then its good for people who are use to the Windows style but want Linux because well Linux owns all.

It looks like you'd be happier with Windows XP.
Looks like Windows. Try something new, for example, the majority of people don't need to know who is logged in, so lose that... Most of us don't share computers and those that do, you can usually discern who is logged in via the background and color scheme.
inventate dont imitate ;)
I am starting to develop the menu, necessary of aid to start build and please me suggestions dem.
im not criticizing and all but isnt this just a direct copy of the windows vista start menu?
It is not a copy of the Sight! Mockup is only one any one can suggest a change total...
XP or Vista start menu is more functional and useful and accessible without more mouse clicks. I wish this to be one of the themes available for kbfx or kicker (for kde4)
yes, you're right, kmenu is really to big. a themeable kmenu is great.
While I like the windows start menu. I hate it when things seem to have to look exactly like the windows ones. There are better ways of doing things. Ones more original. Don't take this wrong into thinking that _nothing_ can be like the others. Such as "windows has title bars with an 'x' button to close the window.. so we can't either." No that is not what I'm talking about. It's about taking what is good, and improving on it where possible. but by all means don't copy... I do see the search bar at the bottom. nice attempt to be different. but how much is that going to be used? there are so many better places to put it.
Dang he did a really good job. But I like my KDE menu better.
Very much like windows. I think that We (Linux adepts), should try to do things different. Don't think that I don't like your post. I like it ,but it's very much like windows.
It's one thing to do things differently and it's another to do them well. If another OS does something right, let's learn from their success. Now whether the start menu is a success or not is a different story. But let's not say that we shouldn't use something because it's been done before. Instead let's examine what's been done and if it is good or not. If so, let's learn from their success. If not, let's learn from that as well.
it is exactly like the new vista ones. and anyway, those suck - still a stupid menu. and menu's suck, lets get rid of them! just launch a mini-application. why not use more space? why not let a click on the menu button bring us back to the desktop (like expose on mac can move all apps to the sides) and let the desktop then be filled with all important stuff like apps, (recent) documents, searches, mails etcetera.
...this looks too much like Vista.
You're typing, You're typing and your point is? Is there a Problem with that. My windows uses an X to close it out, OH no it looks like windows maybe I should use a triangle. Linux Zealots do so much for the good of linux let's all go back to the command line.
Why copy something when you can do something original? If you like the way windows looks run windows. flame flame flame, blah blah blah, type type type...
Why I don't run windows because there kernel sucks compared to the Linux kernel and their software is overrated and over price. So I want the look and feel of windows so I have to deal with all there issue when I could make something stable like linux have the great (in my opinion) look of windows and the security and stability of linux. Why would I run Windows, there's a ton of people out there like me who are scared away from Linux because it doesn't look pretty. Do you windows just through together the look of vista or do you think maybe they did some research to make sure it was visually pleasing. What you should be asking is, is this functional and how can I give suggestions to make it so.
