Description: On-Desktop-Logs opens a terminal (Eterm) on the desktop at the specified position. On the terminal we've "tail -f /var/log/messages" running. This script is based on On-Desktop-TerminalLast changelog:
sorry, it doesn't kill Eterm at the end of the session, but you can exclude it on Kcontrol in the session management section
$ kstart: WARNING: Omitting both --window and --windowclass arguments is not recommended
(devilspie:23466): Wnck-WARNING **: Property _NET_STARTUP_ID contained invalid UTF-8
what I have wrong?
...but have you ever seen root-tail?

Essentially does the same thing except it doesn't use a terminal. Instead it paints the output to the root window.

It's working great on my Slackware box and I've been using it for a while now.
I get what you're saying about your own implementation. I often do the same thing myself.
Bad English? Looks pretty good to me :)
Cheers.
