by taking each one's advantage with slightly modified menus (eg. 'Start Here').

- scream's (scrolling up/down buttons)

All credits for this KonquiSidebar go to axeljaeger and scream!

This is not a forked version of the KonquiSidebar,
but just an easy to install/uninstall service for indolents like me.

To install, UNTAR IT AND RUN $ ./install, THAT'S ALL!
NO MORE CONFIGURATION IS NEEDED.
Now, run konqueror(webbrowsing mode) and then
you will see KonquiSidebar'ed konqueror as screenshots.

You can modify links in the KonquiSidebar
to your taste at ~/.sidebar/sidebar.html.
(* NOTE
The vfolder

so, you might replace these vfolder

your distribution's menu directories, such as
/usr/share/applnk-mdk or something else. *)
Have fun with the KonquiSidebar!

The link's not working. I get's a 404
True broken link. Work this out SOON!
It uses crystal by default! While I'm a devoted crystal fan I think many users would like it to use the icons they have KDE set up with. This shouldn't be too hard to do.
I tried to downoad it but i thnk the link is broken.
Yes, I also try to download it the last days, but no success at all. Seems to be often offline... sadly :-/
I'll post a screen in a few here. Thanks and I could use some input on what the default apps should be. My version will add a My Linux icon to the desktop and is a link to my control profile (Modified sidebar konq. profile) Instead of the right window being a webpage I will have a KDE Control window with easy access to common used apps for the desktop, Like colors, window dec, background, etc.... Look for a post today and let me know your opinion. Thanks, FTZ
Is there any reason I cant make my own sidbar based on this version? I think this is a very cool idea and would like to make my own version based off this. Thanks, FTZ
feel free to modify it. :) looking forward to see your good work... Thanks.
comments: 1. It would be nice if icon sizes could be variables. (Right now there seem to be 3 categories - arrow-size, title icons, and the sub-entries) 2. Is there any way to set the initial state of a "box", i.e open or closed? Good work, Thanks!
Are there any other changes to the sidebar or is it just the install script?
based on axeljaeger's sidebar, I adopted your sidebar's up/down buttons. - changed user specific directories, like /home/scream, to be independent links(relative path) for convenience' sake. - added a ready made konqueror webbrowsing profile to use with the install script for KonquiSidebar. No new functionality added, just for indolent like me. :)
I edited most of the sidebar.html file in ~/.sidebar successfully. What is the vfolder for? I get "protocol not supported" when trying to use that to open Applications. Note: on the install, I had to cp all the 'make install' files to /usr/share/apps and /usr/lib/kde3/ b/c Mandrake doesn't have it setup to use /usr/local/kde/. cheers, -p0z3r btw, Mandrake 9.1
sorry but vfolder:/ is the RedHat specific protocol for easy accessibility to menus. In Mandrake, for example, you can link the 'Applications' menu to the '/usr/share/applnk-mdk/' directory. Thanks.
"I had to cp all the 'make install' files to /usr/share/apps and /usr/lib/kde3/ b/c Mandrake doesn't have it setup to use /usr/local/kde/." Just run ./configure like this next time: ./configure --prefix=/usr That will have it install in /usr instead of /usr/local :)
