Description:
Since last month I started to navigate internet with images loading disabled: it is faster, but the flash animation(especially flash advertisements) are still loaded and consume my time(they are big). I want disabled (flash) plugins when images are disabled . . . or should I go to elinks text browser (it does not load flash&images => fast browsing) ?

I won't implement code that checks for flash specifically and disables it.  (That will be closed with wontfix.)  I also won't implement code that disables plugins when images are disabled, but I won't close that one as wontfix.

Flash is an unnecessary waste of resources. When I don't want to see something I shouldn't be forced to. My simple answer it control flash by adding a ~ to the plugins themselves since I rarely every need flash, and when I do, I just remove the ~. Works fine. I think its incredible dumb not to add a flash shut off feature to konq. Who knows, maybe Macromedia is paying them not to.

It's very easy to block unwanted advertising but now more sites are using flash !! Especially MS$ I think we should start a petition to enable temporarily disabling flash adds... Or, better yet, disable a particular flash add...

I also asked in bugzilla for a possibility to disable flash without disbling other plugins (and in a comfortable cookie like way) in konq. But the only answer is that it is and will stay a WONTFIX because it's "bloat" and all plugins are to be treated equal. Well, at least there is the option in konq to disable *all* plugins for specific websites and by now I haven't seen a website that uses flash *and* other plugins, so for me it's ok. Just go to the konq-settings, plugins, domain specific settings. I hope I never find an "important" webpage where flash kills my browser but I do need some other plugin to use the page.

I want that feature ... Although flash _could_ be used for useful stuff ... it's only used for stupid (ad) banners and stupid site intros, that are good for nothing but wasting bandwidth, and hogging the cpu. Has anybody besides me noticed how much CPU that dumb flash plugin eats ? With 3-4 tabs each with 1-3 flash animations my box gets quite unresponsive (Celeron 633) ... Also it's unconvinient to go to the plugins configuration and kill it there when you quickly wan't to browse a site which uses flash for navigation and then turn it off again in the plugin config ....

Al least ability to disable it and but a button to load the swf instead.

You can disable the flash in a web page by removing the flash plugin from konqueror Settings->Plugings->flash, just delete that. And whenever you need to work with flash you can 'scan for plugin', and lo, you get flash back. I hope that was easy on konqueror developer's part, checking for .swf in a page and disabling/removing the plugin!

"should i use elinks" retorical question . I like KONQUEROR.

Maybe try greasemonkey if you use firefox. It sounds really cool to add client side scripting to your browsing experience. http://developers.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/05/16/0052245&from=rss http://greasemonkey.mozdev.org/

You can use Privoxy (http://www.privoxy.org) to do advanced filtering

/Offtopic: Yeay, I see you're from Romania ;)

morgenrot

You can filter it out with a userdefined stylesheed. Put something like this in it: embed[type="application/x-shockwave-flash"]{ display: none !important; }

Exetafus

Why don't you use Firefox. It has adblock and you can easily disable flash... -r -=-

phxguy

Y don't you just remove the plugin? Just a thought

Superstoned

yeah, i don't have flash either, mostly no problem.
