Description: This package contains templates and context menu entries for KDE and OpenOffice.org3. Now you can right click in file manager or desktop and generate a new file.Last changelog:
This works great in kubuntu with LibreOffice 3.3.3
The only thing that doesn't seem to work is that, at least in my system, there are no icons in the menus.
As a suggestion, I would add the corresponding extension to the dialog box that asks for the name of the document. I never remember them (is it odt, otd, odf or what?) and I'm certain I am not the only one.
Great work!
For Kubuntu you don't need this. Just install "libreoffice-kde" which contains these templates. In 10.04 the icons appear ok, but in 11.04 seems to be an error. The icons have got different names. If you delete the number "3" in the "/usr/template/soffice.odX.desktop"-files the icons will be back.
Thank you for the hint with the extensions. I will add them in 0.3.
Ahah!
I've just moved from another distro where this option wasn't available and I assumed that it wasn't available in kubuntu either.
I should have checked before installing.
Great work anyway.
Thank you for templates but trying to install it in Mandriva Linux I've found two problems:
1. Mandriva uses /usr/share/templates directory for such templates. Also this templates could be placed in user's templates directory defined by XDG_TEMPLATES_DIR variable in ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs file. In the last case you don't need root privileges to install templates :) .
2. I have installed LibreOffice 3.4 that I've downloaded from Document Foundation site and it uses different icons filenames. To fix this you should use MIME names of this icons:
* application-vnd.oasis.opendocument.text for text document (odt)
* application-vnd.oasis.opendocument.graphics for graphics document (odg)
* application-vnd.oasis.opendocument.presentation for presentation (odp)
* application-vnd.oasis.opendocument.spreadsheet for spreadsheet (ods)
See an example in this topic: http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=36907
Then your templates would not depend on the precise file names of icons and even applications used to edit this files.

Many thanks for the hints about Mandriva. I've added these to the new template. I hope the problems are gone.
