Description: To time many applications show passive popups informing you about various events like new email(KMAIL), new device in range(KBluetooth), new buddy online (Kopete) and many more can be configured to do so. There is however no central way to control the behaviour (when, for how long, where) and appearence of them. For example it would be nice if they could be stacked in the bottom right corner so that each new is displayed above (in 2D) and once the older is dismissed all newer would fall down. If you leave your pc for a while, they would not be dismissed but somehow agregated, eg not 4 newmail windows but one saying 4. There should be also a way to cancel a message (device was in range but is gone now = no message)
I never thought that so many people would be interested in this. There were already 3 bug reports similar to this, right now with more than 300 votes.
If somebody could do a mocup I would gladly put it here.
I mean this really shows the power of opensource, go write email to ms for this feature:)
M$ already has something like this in Longhorn.
I am not very good in photoediting, but mockups would definitely be a good thing. Let's see if somebody more talented than me has some mockups.
Back in my Windows times I used the miranda instant messanger, and it had the most beautiful popup-system I have ever seen:

I think, kde's popups should look like this and also implement the feature of stacking concurrent popups above each other.
A friend of me made a small python/qt-hack for something like this, I really like the idea of it all.
http://vemod.net/software is the url, "KDE System Tray Notifier" is the name of the applet.
I have even filed a bug report and written a small patch (not totally perfect working, but good enough for me at least) here:
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66733
So please everybody who likes this idea go to this link, and vote for the wishlist, hopefully we will get more attention, since the notifications are really ugly when they popup in the middle of the screen.
This would be good if a user could configure these windows. For example, when I play UT, these windows saying "Someone is online" distract me, and I really want they could be deactivated in settings system-wide(and reactivated later).

Something like Growl (http://growl.info/) implemented like a KDE service would be great.

ing :-P A single place where notifications could be aggregated, even in background, if properly configurated it could be a cool addiction to KDE.
another nice addiction (I forgot) also would be grouping of copy/move operations like beos.

was QT4 not going to allow more things like this? like animations etc etc? but configurabillity is nice :D
