New Tux
Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work):
0.4 - Several changes:
* Made neck thicker to more closely resemble 'classic' tux,
* Modified many of the curves to make them smoother
* Adjusted colors to make them brighter (also fixing bluish color around arms)
* Included source SVG file with wallpaper in tarball
0.3 - Made reflections less 'harsh', made outlines of feet and bill orange color, instead of black
0.2 - Added (or should I say subtracted?) a transparent background.

super tux, great on its own or as a base for further artistry :D
Very very good, this crystalized tux. Proffessional. A goof alternative to the crystal penguin, which is more of a smaller logo. And i cant find the source of it. Thank you for giving away the source of this!
A fine replacement for the classic Tux! Great work.
Just installed mdk 9.1 on another box, and of course this wallpaper will be on ALL my boxes, linux/windows or otherwise. good job !
However, can you add some larger wallpaper size? Such as 1280x1024, and 1600x1200. I dont think many people still run at 1024x768, its just too small
I run at 1024x768! ;) With a 17" monitor, everything higher than 1024x768 is too small for my eyes. ;) Since the SVG is in the tar.gz file now, just open up sodipodi, or some other vector graphics package and make the wallpaper whatever size you want.
... May I ask why there is a blueish tint to the white highlight of Tux's arms? It seems like a REALLY out of place color for a Black, Yellow and White penguin.
Good point... I'll get rid of the bluish tint. I was basically trying to match the color of the shadowed white belly, but didn't get it quite right. You can expect the correction probably sometime tonight, or early tomorrow.
Thanks for fixing that. Looks great now.
Looks good... I like the shadow and highlighting accents. What would really be good is a version with Tux sitting on the toliet and the "paper" being a mix of "4 colors" and the name SCO. ;)
Why, what an ORIGINAL idea, hitman ;-) I wonder where I've heard that, before??? (inside joke alert)
sounds good to me ; )
No religiouse comment ? No quick quip about afterlife or how penguins evolved into humans ? No soul-stirring what so ever ? Just a penguin, smiling ? That's it? Is that all there is? :-) LOL (-: Good job btw, nice to see (one) that's just a great wallpaper! ; -) (don't mind me I'm just ribbing some folks)
If you really want, I could make the next one with Tux trying to cast the 'evil spirits' out of the BSD devil :-) (hey, that could be kind a fun! j/k)
This looks really nice. But since it's GPL'ed, where are the source files?
I'd like to post them. Forgive my ignorance, but where is the appropriate place for image source files on kde-look? From what I can see, every other wallpaper just has the large image file under the 'download' link, with smaller screenshots when you click on the thumbnails.
Throw the background and the sources into a tar.gz and upload it instaed of just the background.
no offense but, it looks like tux had peed all around the place...
nevermind its just the screenshot.,.
lol! Yeah, the jpeg version tuned out a little off-color yellowish. The png should be fine.
Great job! I love the Crystal look, this Tux is way better than the ones everaldo made (the short fat, spikey ones). IMHO.
One thing, it looks like Tux's neck is just a little bit smaller than the original Tux drawing. It makes this version's head look a little more circular...
Thanks for the compliment. You're right about the head being a bit rounder on this Tux. This is one of several slight aesthetic tweaks I made to his form. I kind of like the rounder head. What does everybody else think?
I'd kinda like to see a version with a little fatter neck, to make it look more like the original, but then that would make this basically just a "Crystallized" version of the original... hmm...
I love it!
