Description: Inspired by eriol's KDE 4 mockup, i made this mockup of my own for KDE 3.5. I dont think style can be done. However, the window decor should be simple. But, personally i do not know how to do the coding; i tried, i have no programming knowledge. I am looking for someone interested in helping make the window decor. The decoration should be really easy,
2 pixel width lateral pixmaps, 0/1 pixel height botton pixmaps, top pixmaps about 24 pixel height, all white. (buttons are
just black signs).
The difficult here is the style, and there
isn't anything similar to kwin or
deKorator for styles....
This is one of the best linux schemes I have ever seen. I am a graphic / multimedia developer and this is awesome. Simplistic, stylish and I wish it was real bcoz it would definently be my scheme of choice.

I know the style can not be done. I am just looking form someone to make the window decor. The style was just a lead in to get people to look.
This would be easy to make in deKorator, true, but deKorator does not work on my system, and from what i understand this is a common problem for debian users. Until dekorator reaches maturity it should not be the primary source for window decor. secondly, the advantage in making a real style it can function and change on its own timeline, not on that of deKorator.
Why make a window decor like this?
The vast majority of KDE window decor has soft corners becuase it is more natural and organic, but this is a computer! I first fond the round corners cool, but now pretentious. I think they are only a passing novilty. But it makes no difference to me. I just see a lot of rounded corners, and thought it would be good to get something sharp that didn't look like it was made in the 90's.
So lets straighten the lines out. My design focus as always been more architecture, enjoy long straight lines. I was looking for something clean and simple. To me the sharp corners help the window command it space, with round corners the window just drags on.

This style can't be done, even with Qt4.
Only an app can set 2 different colors as toolbar background, not a style. Well, at least it can't be done in a way that will always produce the expected result.
As for a color behind the tabs like in your mockup, Qt just doesn't allow it. I tried when I saw the mockup that obviously inspired you and that was on KDE-Artists before to arrive here in the "KDE4 brainstorm". A quick look in Qt sources is enough to see that it's just impossible.
There are also other details that would prove impossible to reproduce... but I don't want to spoil your joy any further.
And I agree with p0z3r, sharp corners are so old-fashioned. Too aggressive or whatever else. Today's style is organic, smooth and round. ;-)

Not necessarily. I've done gradient effects on the toolbars in tiblit while applying a different effect on the menu bars.
The answer is yes, it possible to do different things because a menubar and a toolbar are different things. But 2 toolbars? How can a style "guess" which one should have a different background so that the window content looks better? Hu? That's why I said "No-no".
The corners are very sharp and rectangular. I don't see that pleasing to the eye personally. It shouldn't be hard using the dekorator windec schema if you wanted to do this on your own.

The window deco for dekorator is there ( http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=36323 ) that's the most similar I could do.
