First of all I'm sorry for this comment here. It's not about your desing, but about KBFX: I think KBFX is a bad designed menu. Note that the scrool down button is... in the top corner of the menu! how is it possible? it's the worst concept about usability I've ever seen. Sincerely I hope the menu in KDE4 will be completely different of the actual Kmenu and KBFX.

Sorry but I don't think so. KBFX is one of the best applications for KDE in the last years. Ok. There are some things must be change, but always remember... it's not a commercial project. It is a project of a very good programmer who called siraj. he's only working to change and update the sources at weekend. so it's not possible to get every day a new update. Look on www.kbfx.org for the latest version and you can see, the work will go on.

Ok, obviously the design is better than actual Kmenu, but the last version has the scroll down button in the top still, that is IMHO a big usability issue.

ibc/icb .. I like your KDE4 brain storms.. if you do have a nice idea for the MENU.. why not show us what u really want? if it is cool..then there is no reason.why I or any one else wouldn't want to implement it.....KBFX is about experiments. to make the BEST menu for KDE..I devote my time and money for that.. and my effort is to make the menu you want..and so far kbfx is based on ideas that users have given..and it will remain that way..good ideas u come up with will be on kbfx!!..that's promiss!

ello This is a comment on the comment and not the theme: We from the KBFX.org TEAM are always interested in Feedback. The Scroll thing is going to change in one of the next releases, it's already planned. However, I don't think your comment is fair. We have reflected a lot how to improve usability. I for my part am GLAD that I dont have forking submenues, e.g. And If you have an Idea how to improve, feel free to post it at kbfx.org. If you add a mock, it's even better. Our team is very small indeed, which causes that updates aren't possible that often, after all, things have to be checked after being coded, and we're working like hell to deliver a good menu experience. And even with this solution of scroll at the top - which we don't think is ideal neither, I think we're far ahead other menues. If KBFX is nothing for you - fine, we don't mind, it's up to you, but don't let those hundreds of hours work down. If you think it were sthg for you, but there are things missing or to be approved, fine, contact us. As I already wrote, feedback is important to us. You don't change the world by complaining... but you can change it by participating. Consider that... Greetings of a man who loves to work for KBFX and whose morning you just ruined. btw feel free to contact me via kbfx.org/forum or nathanael@mail.kbfx.org

Sorry, I didn't want to offend with my comment, really. I simply see all the days more and more KBFX themes, but I've never seen a KDE distro that uses KBFX by default. And I've read some discussions about the menu in KDE4 but never read nothing about KBFX and KDE4. If KBFX is a good project let's go, but what about KDE4, Plasma and that? will be there place for KBFX in KDE4? should KBFX be the emnu in KDE4? I repeat that I'm sorry for my comment. The last days I only see more and more KBFX themes in KDE-Look, no more and I had some doubs. Regards and good luck with the project.

Hello First of all- sorry for the harsh answer. I felt indeed a little offended, but it's because kbfx is really sthg i LOVE. ;-) It's true that no distri has us yet as default menu. But we don't really care. KBFX in KDE 4? Sure! We're already coding that. It doesn't mean that it will be the default, nor that it will even be included in KDE 4. We know nothing about that yet. But it's for SURE that we will deliver a release for use with KDE 4. And we'll deliver it via KBFX.org. If one day the KDE team wants to include us ... fine. If one day, a distri wants us as default start menu ... fine. If not, it's no problem. So, sorry again for being that harsh. But you know there's lots of work in it, you can believe that. BTW: how do you like the scroll solution as in the mock linked in sirajs comment? Greetings and hope I didn't make you that angry...

sirajr

Oh..friend I never felt offended..I just informed you of the new development going on..for each release we come up with some thing new based on what the user wants. and we never thing our design is perfect and we never had. and there is no such thing as a perfect design..few year back ...wvery one said "WOW" when they saw the kmenu..and the current kbfx kind sucks..hehe. and that's why we are writting a new one from scratch..we gatherd what the users want to 2 months before even starting work..and we still have our harts as well as doors open for new ideas.. bye!
