- Perfect on a dark KDE 3.5.x desktop.

- coudn't find how to enable '3-panels' layout without breaking the theme decoration.

Unfortunately there is no way. KBFX really isn't a well written piece of software. In order to make it look like it does I had to create the illusion of the menu being inside the rest of the theme. So all the graphics are made specifically for this layout. Sorry, not much I can do.
KBFX is an alternative startmenu for KDE 3.2+. It improves users' experience by replacing the Win95-like K-Logo button and menu with a larger and thus more visible start button and menu. Wikipedia

I agree, KBFX is a total mess. Does KDE4 bring a new, easily themeable Menu?
