Description: Displays your hard disk drives and removable devices dynamically. Need python-qt3 and python-imaging in order to work.
Here it comes again
v1.4 is a WIP (Work In Progress) release, and just a milestone on the way to 1.5, wich will feature a new config window, with much more options.
I still wish to change the hdd monitor basic skin, so if you've skinned it already, please send to packadal@gmail.com
WARNING : you *MUST* click the "apply changes" button in order for changes to take effect I know this is clumsy, and i'll be working on it for 1.5
If anyone thinks about an improvement, please explain what you want, as i'm open to any suggestion (i.e. i added the transparency options on demand) my e-mail is still packadal@gmail.com so send any suggestions you have. Hdd monitor is designed to fill YOUR needs
---- how to skin hdd monitor ----
The skin must be of 4 files, named as follow : * top.png : the top of the theme * bottom.png : need an explanation ? * hdd.png : the background image of each and every device * vumeter.png : the bar image itself * button.png : the unmount button
The images can be any size, the only thing you have to do is create a skin.conf (there is an example in the package) with the x and y positions of the bar on the hdd.png.
----- Next version info -----
* skin support improvements * config window improvements (in order to enable the user to show the device label, do per-device specfic configuration, etc ) -- Please wait, this may take some time due to real-life issues --

Ask for any feature you want, i'll try and do it if i got enough time :-)Last changelog:

Fixed the remanent config window bug, looks like i've gone wrong in some way when uploading v 1.3.5 -_-;
I'm *really* sorry guys, and quite ashamed of my own stupidity some times...
hi, i've got the same problem.
and i've found another bug. sometimes i can see the amount of free space and the size of the medium, but there is no bar rendered. (it's an usb device)
Hi !
Sorry for the time i took for answering.
I'm working on the config window bug (not very hard as i'm mainly focused on hdd 1.4, wich will bring cool new things)
Thank you for using hdd monitor :)
I'm running Suse 10.1
When I click on configure nothing happens, no configuration window. I have tried re-downloading, still the same eproblem. Any ideas?
No, I do have both required packages installed. I will update them over the weekend and see if that makes any difference. Looks like it will be a handy utility.
Hi everyone !
As this feature is included in superkaramba 0.40, you just have to change the text (it is now in GB by default)
reminder : %f is the free disk space, %fg is the free disk space in GB. As simple as it ;)
are you sure you installed python-qt3 and python-imaging ?
If Yes, please send me your /home/yourlogin/.superkaramba/hdd monitor/*.conf at packadal@gmail.com
Thanks
Thank you for your comment !!
And if anyone comes chcking for a new version, i'm not dead ;-)
I'll be working on v1.3 as soon as i get out of my exams :-p
I think i'll be using the df outpout (much more simple and much less cpu-consuming i think)
I may look at the imagemagick functionnalities, but i haven't much time at the moment (lot of work to do :p)
I promise a new version in less than a month (2 weeks i hope)
Bye !
Hi, well done, but one thing doesn't work. When I insert my sd card, hdd monitor generates a new row and shows the card, but not the discspace.
I played a bit around and found out, that `df -a` (`df /dev/sdc1`) shows these values. I don't know how hdd monitor works, but maybe you could use it to fix that problem.
I'm using suse 9.3 if that matters.
Strange bug !
Could you post your /etc/mtab line corresponding to the sd card ?
(Are you sure you got the last version ? - 1.2c as i'm writing )
Thanks

Ok, sorry. Try to get a console and type : "superkaramba hdd.theme" Send me the outpout on gmail, it may be inetresting.
Can you include support for hddtemp command in your app? hddtemp tell you device's temperature.
Hi !! hddtemp isn't a standard app, so i'll ad support for additional sensors using the configuration window. I'll do it ;)
it could be cool if it was more configurable :) but, good work :) i'm still waiting for more ;)
More configurable ? What do you exactly mean ? What do you want to be able to configure ? Ask for features, i'll try to satisfy your needs :p

This is an awesome app! Feature request: Flag to display info as gigabyte, the megabyte display isn't so easy to read on large drives. Thanks!
Hi ! I already thought of this one, but now you requested it, be assured it will be in v1.4 ;) Work is going on fine for the moment, more to come !
hi, I'm using superkaramba 0.39. When I start hdd monitor, I can just "see" a small, transparent widget.
are you sure you installed python-qt3 and python-imaging ? If Yes, please send me your /home/yourlogin/.superkaramba/hdd monitor/*.conf at packadal@gmail.com Thanks
Just got back from travel and checked out 1.2c. Looks great! /dev and so on are not shown.
