For anyone who want to taste the eye-candy in RH9 or MDK9.1...
-- Run '$ karamba.sh the_theme_files_to_load' or, just click 'Karamba' at KMenu-> Accessories (in RedHat), KMenu->Applications->Monitoring (in Mandrake)
$ karamba1024.sh (or karamba1152.sh) This will load 10 pre-selected themes at the same time. (You can select these themes by commenting or uncommenting lines in /usr/share/apps/karamba/themes/1024x768.theme or 1152x864.theme )
-- Note: The download button is linked to RH9 rpm. If you want to download MDK9.1 rpm, visit the Homepage: Link.

Congratulations for this great job.
I have a problem, the glassbar works fine except the net status. When I start the theme, the terminal gives the error message "cant find eth0", yes, that's right, because I'm using a single modem. Can somebody help me?
Thanks.
When i try to install it says :
perl(HTML::TokeParser) is needed by karamba-0.17-2pdc
perl(LWP::Simple) is needed by karamba-0.17-2pdc
perl(Net::POP3) is needed by karamba-0.17-2pdc
perl(POSIX) is needed by karamba-0.17-2pdc
What can I do?
I've used the specfile from this project to make a specfile that can be used to build rpms for SuperKaramba 0.22b. It seems to work on my Red Hat Linux 9 system.
Would there be anyone interested in testing this specfile (especially on Mandrake 9.1) or maybe just in having it to build their own rpms?
Is there a way to have a karamba theme load automatically when KDE starts? I have tried putting the karamba /pathtotheme command in /usr/bin/startkde but that just messes things up. Any ideas? It sure would be nice not to have to load it everytime manually.
When i try to install it it says that this things are needed how do i install them?
perl(POSIX)
perl(Net::POP3)
perl(LWP::Simple
perl(HTML::TokeParser)
Hi all
I am newbie to linux and have redhat 8.0. I installed karamba rpm using
rpm -Uvh karamba-0.17-2pdc.i686.rpm
but when I run karamba either from shell or from Accessories nothing happens and when I run karamba.sh to install a theme
[root@microsoftsucks root]# karamba.sh /usr/share/apps/karamba/themes/1152x864.theme
/usr/bin/karamba: relocation error: /usr/bin/karamba: undefined symbol: _ZN18QMetaObjectCleanUpC1EPKcPFP11QMetaObjectvE
I get a relocation error, I have no idea what that is and any pointer would be much appreciated.
I have Mandrake 9.1 and installed the karamba-0.17-2pdc.src.rpm by typing:
rpm -Uvh karamba-0.17-2pdc.src.rpm
It seemed to installed fine, as I got no errors. But when I went KMenu->Applications->Monitoring (in Mandrake) like the instruction said i see no sign of Karamba. It isnt in themes or anywhere. Please help me get this going.
Thanx!!
rpm --rebuild karamba...src.rpm
Then locate karamba*.rpm
Then rpm -Uvh (or urpmi for mandrake) /pathto_the_rpm/karamba*.rpm
Did you do that? Did you get any failed dependencies? It does work in 9.1.
How would I go about running karamba at a higher screen resolution? I'm running 1280x1056 (I think that's what it is at least) which isn't listed as one of the themes. At the highest setting right now, the top bar only covers about 75% of the screen and the Calender doesn't line up with the translucent box behind it.
Thanks.
my name is Stefan and i'm fairly new to the linux game. I just recently upgraded from rh8 to rh9, i need some help running some karamba themes properly. when i try to load the weather theme or the calendar theme i get an error
ImportError: No module named weather
Failed to load a python module for weather
karamba
toggleLocked
what do i need to do to get this to run. You can IM me on the screen name ibanez. thank you for your time.

Noticed others are having probs as well with this....
here is the output when run:

I cranked down the INTERVAL to 100 and watched traffic on a tcpdump session. Prog doesn't even look like it's attempting to reach the /. servers.
Help?
I think, the superkaramba patch have caused this problem.
superkaramba finds the python module named the same as the theme you load,
even if it needs no python module.
I hope, this bug will be fixed in next release.
Thanks.
I think this probably the best KDE improvement idea in a while, so I praise you on your ambition.
I have two queries here:
1)How do you have Karamba auto-load a theme on login, that way you don't have to go through the dialog box process to select a theme. (I'm lazy and I like auto-start things)
2)When is the prospective release date for the Mandrake 9.1 RPM for the new build? I noticed that when I got the 9.1 build, it was still build 17.1, yet Red Hat was 17.2 with the neat-o OS X features.
Thanks and keep up the great work.
>When is the prospective release date for the
> Mandrake 9.1 RPM for the new build?
MDK9.1 rpm would be released later than RH9 rpm.
If you want to get MDK9.1 rpm as soon as possible,
get RH9 SRPM and rebuild it on MDK with changing
%define Mandrake 0 to %define Mandrake 1,
%define RedHat 1 to %define RedHat 0
in karamba.spec file. That's all.
--
i.e. # rpm -ivh karamba-*.src.rpm
& # cd /usr/src/RPM/SPEC (in case of MDK)
and edit karamba.spec file as described above.
finally, # rpmbuild -ba karamba.spec
(It will take some time to build karamba.)
You can find the output binary rpm at
/usr/src/RPM/RPMS/{your_arch}/karamba-*.{your_arch}.rpm
Good luck :)

how to install it in redhat linux 9
# rpm -Uvh karamba-*.i686.rpm That's all. Then, select 'Karamba' at KMenu->Accessories. or, run 'karamba.sh' at command prompt. :)

write a script like such:
#!/bin/bash
/usr/bin/karamba $HOME/karamba_weather/plain/main.theme
And then make it executable with:
chmod +x myscript
And then place the script in $HOME/.kde/Autostart , then when you log back in it should work for you.
