Description: This is the design of the extremebar... I hope you like it, and I also hope somebody will have the skills to do this. As you see on screenshot 3 I see this as not "just" a Karamba application, but much more... All the png files are added in the download...
Mail me if you're working on this
A little year ago somebodu was working on this, but is has been forgotten... If that person still want's to do this, mail me...
What i schould like in the working version:
- theme support - Drag & drop - Things in the 3d screenshot - if possible a tray next to the clock
Hi guys!
I done the working first version of the ebar...
I will create a new project with the source...
I made some changes, but it's almost completed...
Thanks for this theme desing!
In every Karamba, Kicker, SuperKaramba replacement I have seen, there seems to be a lack of a system tray. I find this kind of odd, as it is fairly important, and using the default one would totally compromise the nice eye cand provided by these.
I also think that all of the activity going on in order to make new "themes" or such should make a point. I think it is time for Kicker to really branch out and take off. Some of these ideas are really nice, but because of their add-on nature, they take up a lot more resources than the Kicker does. I also think that if you compare Linux to Mac OS and Windows, it's flexibility is in offering choice. I think in revolutionizing the Kicker, it could really make KDE, and Linux stick out.
There's no native support for a system tray in SuperKaramba and I don't think most of the people who make themes are quite up to the challenge of creating some sort of system tray using python... When someone adds support to SuperKaramba, or someone especially talented does it in python in a theme, lots of themes will include a system tray
Well, there's support for system tray now, as well as a lot of other things - no reason for someone not to try making this... I'd do it myself, but busy with other things (& slickbar is now rather excellent, so I don't feel the need...)
I like this a whole lot. But I don't like the KDE-Menu being on the same status as every other icon. Can you make the icons so four fit into the space of one?
Ah, this is quite a bit nicer - I like this a lot more than the first design, I'll get onto it soon... I'll examine the DynBar source, see if I can have a similar arrangement with the short-cuts...
Working on a python game at the mo, so I've learnt a lot more about python than I knew when I did the ExtremeBar design... If I get round to this, I'll implement it a lot better :)
while we're at it ...how's slicker going on ...it seems dead, but i dearly hope it isn't ...it's a great project!!! IMO more usefull and sweet to look at (when it'll be finished) then karamba
Yes, Slicker is still going, though at the moment a bit slowly. We've run in to some problems with exams and such, as most of our developers are students and have had uni to contend with lately. However, we strongly hope that this will change soon (we've just had a meeting on the 21st of June, a transcript of which can be found at http://slicker.sourceforge.net/slicker-2003-06-21@2359-GMT-meeting.log.bz2 ). We are still VERY much interested in more developers joining us (interested? Please either join the Slicker-devel mailing list on Sourceforge, or join us at #slicker @ irc.freenode.net ).

Great, and where can we be gettings dis from?
Instead of setting a permanent size for the taskbar, why not just change the length depending on how many programs are displayed in the taskbar?

i only can say, this is really cool.. plez, keep on working on that stuff (for example, adding systray). Absolutely fantastic! thanx
Where would the system tray icons go? ie. Klipper, gaim, etc?
If you look at the third screenshot, do you think my wishes are possible? Liquidrock, and Cwiiis, maybe you can work together... ??
