Description: This is a Superkaramba Theme for monitoring Dual-Core systems. It shows system info and versions, two CPU Graphs, CPU Temp, Network Stats, Memory Usage and Disk Usages. It has been customized for Kubuntu.
This theme is basically a migration (and merge) to dualcore from other themes: QuadMonitor (by mvil).
Also based in: RessMonitor (by Camelot) and Glassmonitor (by Vemec).
Note: The Clock requires ImageMagick installed and the CPU Temp Sensor needs lm-sensors installed and configured.Last changelog:
Added Background to Titles. Fixed CPU Temp time interval.
Heyya!
...nice one..! :) Looks just like I wanted.. BUT: Now I'm tweaking the .theme-file to match my needs.
I already resized it, repositioned some text, added some new text but now, I'm trying to add a new sensor:
text x=165 y=643 sensor=program program="/usr/sbin/hddtemp /dev/sda | cut -d' ' -f3" fontsize=12 color=0,255,0 interval=1000
...no luck.. The text just doesn't appear..
When I change the line like that:
text x=165 y=643 sensor=program program="echo foobar" fontsize=12 color=0,255,0 interval=1000
it works...
Any hints..? :)
Cheers,
stimpy
Answering my own question:
hddtemp can't be run with normal user-rights. The running user has to have to access /dev/sda (for kubuntu: root:disk)
If you don't want this (like me) you could still user hddtemp in deamon-mode and utilize a telnet-client like "nc" to read the temperatures..
If anyone has a better idea: Please tell me! :)
HDDtemp is a good idea. I think the daemon mode is the only way.
Yo can submit the complete new sidebar (with the new resolution and the new stuff).
I didn't add a lot of sensors 'cause it's for 1024 x 768 and not bigger.
Is it just me, or is this theme a major resource hog? I can use another cpu monitor and toggle this side bar on and off and watch the cpu usage drastically change. Just a thought. Maybe there's something you can do here? Otherwise good theme.
It isn't difficult. You just need to resize the background to the new size. Then, open the .theme file and change the size of the Gadget, in the first lines.
You can read the comments inside the file, is very easy to modify it!
The Clock is a Python Script. It should start when you open the .theme file with Superkaramba, 'cause it has the same name.
Do right click, refresh theme.
is there a chance of making sidebar as a empty bar with option to sit below other superkaramba gadgets . what i would like to do is add other gadgets as layer on top .that is one thing i like about vista , sidebar.also fade skin seems to be most universal and would go nicely with most desktops .
That's what I want too! I was talking about it in the new Ubuntu Brainstorm page, but not luck, it seems that the people doesn't want a "vista like" sidebar.
Anyway, when KDE 4.1 is ready, I will work on a Sidebar for Plasma, and I will try to do an empty one to add Widgets on it.
The problem with Superkaramba is that it doesn't use real transparency, is just a "fake", and if you put a widget over another, it will be inside a "square".
