Description: This KDM theme resembles the SuSE 9.2 bootsplash to have the same theme from grub to kdm in SuSE 9.2 (or SuSE 9.3 if you're feeling nostalgic)
-- installing --
KDM supports theming as of KDE 3.4. To upgrade KDE, add the following mirror to your installation sources: http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_9.2/yast-source/
If you're using the additional "guru" package repository, also add their separate kde-3.4 repository.
I'm not sure whether there is an official way to upgrade all packages, I pulled off this trick: - open the "Install and Remove software" panel - choose "Installation summary" in the "filter" - enable the "Keep" option in "Show packages with status" - open the "packages" menu, check "all in this list -> "update if newer version available".
Finally extract the files in /opt/kde3/share/apps/kdm/themes/
-- enabling the theme --
The installation of this theme works like any other theme, by enabling the following settings in the "greeter" section of /etc/opt/kde3/share/config/kdm/kdmrc: UseTheme=True Theme=/opt/kde3/share/apps/kdm/themes/SuSE92Splash/
(for GNOME fans: the kdm theme format is identical to format gdm uses, but I haven't tested the theme with gdm though)
Does this require a certin version of KDE? I am currently using 3.3
Sorry I forgot... KDM supports gdm-like themes as of KDE 3.4. I've added some information about this now.
