Installed the version via svn checkout. All working so far, but missing some Icons.
System is Ubuntu 12.04 with gnome 3.4.1
The icons missing are:
- Firefox!
- Thunderbird!
- File System in Nautilus
- Trash
- Search Network in Nautilus
- No custom icon for starters. (Yes I do have them on desktop.
Please fix asap, then this is the most beautiful icon theme I've ever seen.
This is a nice and beautiful theme though I miss some icons. There is no working thrash-can and no "my computer". I guess there soon will be..
Best greetings

Hi Dear,
I just received your message. Thank you for getting in touch with me! But in the meantime, the problem is solved.
I have read all the comments with this problem, and there in the comments I found the Link to the glass-icons which are patched so that they are working for me now.
I followed this Link here to find the working icons:
http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=86629
So I had downloaded this solution yesterday night and can confirm, that the problem with these icons is more than solved.
Thanks everybody!!
For the end, I want to say: this is great artwork!! I love these Icons now!!
Greetings
Karmicbastler
hello together,
I have the same problem with the Glass-Icons in Karmic Koala (ubuntu 9.10). There the icons even do not work!!
The defective icons are the folder-icons as well as the user paper basket.
How to fix this?
Please help me.
Greetings
Karmicbastler
Are you using the svn checkout? I wrote this comment some time ago:
You can use the latest version of the icon theme via svn. (You should remove old versions.)
Open a terminal and execute these commands: (for this you need svn aka subversion. In Ubuntu type this "sudo apt-get install subversion")
cd ~/.icons
svn co https://glass-theme.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/glass-theme/tango-icons/trunk/Glass glass-icons
Maybe you must restart Gnome, but then you can use the new icons. This should work very well.
You can keep it up to date with:
cd ~/.icons/glass-icons
svn update

Thanks, this is much better than running a script. Still, you should probably release a new tarball at some point.
I really like this icon theme. I have one problem with it now though: the icon for folders is not showing up correctly, I get an icon that looks like a sheet of paper now.
To fix the problem where the icon looks like a sheet of paper, navigate to where the 'places' icons are installed (~/.icons/glass-icons/scalable/places). In there is a broken link, inode-directory.svg, which erroneously points to /home/stefan/.icons/glass-icons/scalable/places/folder.svg instead of folder.svg. Fix this by deleting the broken link, and then creating a new link to folder.svg (right click folder.svg in the places folder, select 'make link'). Rename the new link to inode-directory.svg.
Excellent. I love this icon set. Many thanks to Stefan315 for the script. I've downloaded and run it, then re-zipped the icon set and uploaded. Please see http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php?content=86629 for the re-packaged tar.gz. No more hacking required to get it running :o)
This is a great icon theme!!!
Using firefox 3.0,
you may create link from firefox-icon.svg to firefox-3.0.svg to enable the firefox icon.
Hope other system icons will be glass-like !!!
p.s. I am using Ubuntu 8.04, and it's great for desktop system.
I also have hardy heron, and changing that one line is all i had to do to make it work. But maybe we have different versions of the glass icons. I am using version 0.3 available from the glass themes website, instead of 0.2 which is here on gnome-look. Here is the link:
http://glass-theme.net/projects:gnome_icons:releases
Hope it helps!
This was a hard one...
After testing the whole evening, I found out that the whole directory structure and the theme-file should be created from start. The icon theme inherits the gnome theme but that one is a lot different.
This workaround made me happy:
Create some links in /usr/share/icons/glass-icons/scalable/filesystems/
- folder.svg -> /usr/share/icons/glass-icons/scalable/filesystems/gnome-fs-directory.svg
- user-trash-full.svg -> /usr/share/icons/glass-icons/scalable/filesystems/gnome-fs-trash-full.svg
- user-trash.svg -> /usr/share/icons/glass-icons/scalable/filesystems/gnome-fs-trash-empty.svg
And leave the index.theme untouched.
Dear developer(s): Please update the package. And (please²): Trash that 0.3 thing and rather make 0.2 perfect. The old icons look MUCH better.
I'm not quite with you. What do you mean by "create some links"? And I have no glass icons folder inside usr/share/icons? Any idea where my glass icons folder might be? I'd be very grateful for your help.
This is what I did (I had the same problem with no Glass Icons folder)
1. Open Nautilus with root permission (terminal - sudo nautilus)
2. Extract the Glass Icons tar.gz file into /usr/share/icons folder.
3. Go to /usr/share/icons/glass-icons/scalable/filesystems/ and right click the gnome-fs-directory.svg file and select the Make Link option. This will create a link and you rename that link folder.svg. Do the same with the other 2 files.
4. Once I did this I was able to customize my theme with the Glass Icons showing in the icons area.
Good Luck!

I've tried all these instructions and none of them work on Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Anyone?
