Zoom Desktop
Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work):
Description:
This effect zooms in your workspace and fades your panels in afterwards.
Since this effect watches for the _NET_WM_WINDOW_TYPE_DESKTOP property to determin your desktop window, it will work with any standard compilant desktop environment (for example Plasma Desktop or even Razor-Qt!) when using KWin as window manager.
In KDE turn off KSplash (select "None" in System Settings → Workspace Appearance → Splash Screen) and log in. Enjoy! :-)
It is based off the LoginEffect written by Martin Gräßlin. Thanks!
Note: Since this effect delays the appearance of panels, it interferes with autohidden panels (works fine with not always on top panels). So, if you're using an autohidden panel, this effect is probably not for you. (If somebody has an idea how I can workaround this, tips are welcome)
Convenient Install: Simply fetch this effect using KDE's Get Hot New Stuff feature in System Settings → Desktop Effects → All Effects → Get New Effect...
Manual Install: plasmapkg -i plasmafade.kwinscript (adjust filename accordingly) Last changelog:

0.1.0: Initial Release
0.1.1: Changed name to "Zoom Desktop" since it works on any desktop, not just Plasma (and added simple install hints to the description)
0.1.2: Fixed coding style (JSLint complained a lot)

OpenSUSE 12.3 x64 with nvidia card and x32 comps KDE 4.10 ati card bout with default open source drivers. With zoom effect turned on and the panel set to autohide the zoom effect causes for some reason a delay of 1-2 seconds of the panel to appear when the cursor hits the display's border. Turning off the effect returns the instant response of the panel.
aaaaand works great!
Yes . . . how do i install this properly ?
This is a scripted effect, so you can use the "Get new effect" button in the "All effects" tab from the effects configuration module in systemsettings (not sure about the translation, my KDE is not in english). It works in KDE 4.10. Thanks to the author :)
