there is a script to display the desktop you are in (last line)
( works for gnome-classic & compiz)

some option for rhythmbox does not work due to bug https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=674897.
(recompiled rhythmbox with patch working great /screenshot n°2/ )

i only use wlan then if you use eth0 please adapt to it
