Description: My computer Themed Just the way I like it. Currently using Ubuntu 10.10 32bit (x86) ________________________________________ Theme is GTK 2.x - BlackFate Icons: AwOken Mouse Pointer (X11): Pulse Glass Gnomenu: Blue Menu. AWN Theme: Lucido AWN Theme - Jakes World ________________________________________ Notes: - I removed the standard gnome task bars and replaced them with two AWN docks.(how to link #1 below)
- The 6 Icons that rest on the right side of the screen is Ciaro Dock. I used AwOken Icons with in it to blend the theme of the Screen better.
- Everything is from this website except the background. (linked#2 below)
- You can download AWN through the Ubuntu software center.(Link#1 also shows you how)
- I have links to everything below.
Hope you like it. Have fun if you try to make yours look like this :-) ________________________________________ Updates: - I have added another link to a gnomenu I created.
- I have added another link to a AWN Theme I created.
- Changed Background and Icons do to a them Change. All Links Updated accordingly.
Tweaks: - Had to manually change my Trash Icons to make it show up the way it does (you do this through the custom script that comes with AwOken)
- Had to set my mouse Pulse-Glass as default for it to work correctly with compiz. Ask if want to know how.
- Had to manually change my gnomenu Icon in awn so it would not be a gold foot. posted how to do this in the comment field, will still take questions on it though.
any questions are welcome. Ill be checking in periodically.
Your screenshots were very appealing to me so I'd like to figure this out. I've added a second AWN but am unable to configure it... or remove it? Any suggestions?
Hmm, I'm not sure since this has never happened to me?
I completely removed my gnome panels though. If you didn't then there may be conflict between the gnome and awn dock.
Step 4 in link 1 shows how to remove the gnome panels.
I followed the steps exactly but no joy. Perhaps the fact that I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 beta has something to do with it? In any case I still think you've come up with a good idea and have voted in your favour.
Oh yeah, I gave 10.10 a try about a week ago in my VirtualBox and it was not up to par yet to make the jump. I'm waiting for full release off it. That could definitely be the cause of your problem. Can't say for sure though.
Thanks for the vote!
If you decide to use the gnomenu in AWN you will be stuck with a gold foot as your main launch Icon.
other people have already reported this as a bug to both AWN and gnomenu.
for the time being there is a fix.
first find or make an image that you want to use. save it as both logo.png and logo.svg.
note: gimp is great for saving the .png Inkscape is good for the .svg
Now (as root) go to: File System/usr/lib/gnomenu/graphics.
replace logo.png/.svg in that folder with your current icons/images.
now right click on your golden foot, select preferences. your gnomenu options will open up. press OK and reload everything. if you get an sad box just click on it and your image will show up.
if your are a file jumper Vs. a terminal junky. Then make sure to open a terminal and type: sudo nautilus
this will open your files as root and allow you to change permissions. Just assign the owner to you. Then you can modify whatever. *Warning* becareful when doing this with other files.
NO, they will be disabled. The only real work around to this that ive found is to keep gnome as your panel system and remove one gnome panel completely. then make the other one have no icons on it at all then auto hide it.

When you remove the gnome panels, will keyboard shortcuts work using AWN?
