how I have never seen anyone complain about the explotation of women as "sex objects" in other postings. However, as soon as any art with a Christian theme is posted it receives all kinds of complaints. If you don't like it, don't use it. This is art, and has the same right to be posted as the half naked/ naked women posts do. I guess tolerance is only for everything non-Christian.
Have you ever wondered about what offends people, and how to find out? If borderline porn is ok with most people but christianity is not, this should give you something to think about. And - face it - christianity is offending in nature. All these zombie stories about jesus are quite revolting in my opinion, as is the history of the christian church. Offending people itself is not a bad thing, but burning them definitely crosses the line. What would you do if some nazi came around, spreading his ideology like the third Reich had never killed 6 million jews? If you kept your mouth shut, I pity you.
Indeed, It's them darn white people's fault. They are offensive by nature. I mean, hitler was white, Valdimir Lenin was white, the emperors of Rome were white, the pope is white ... and so it goes. Of course, if we exclude blanket statements, where does this arguement stand?
Thanks! You made my point exactly. Oh, I assume you are a scholar on the history of the Christian Church? I do have another question. What is it about Christianity the offends you so much? To resort to equating Christians with Nazi's is really desperate.
The nazis were not the first to suppress and kill jews, and most of ther perverted ideas were in fact based on old church laws. For example, the fourth lateran council ruled that jews had to wear special clothes so that erring could not be used as an apology when a christian mated with a jew, which is pretty much the same thing the nurnberg laws stated. Thomas of Acquin stated that the church owned everything a jew had because jews were slaves of the church. Martin Luther...well, I guess you'd better read that for yourself, I can't summarize the horror appropriately. Let's just say he made very graphic descriptions of what one should do with jews. And what's more - the catholic church was very ok with the nazis. After the nazis occupied Czechoslovakia, pope Pius XII said he loved germany even more, and expressed his wish that Hitler would win the war. There's lots more, and I haven't even started on witches and cathars and heretics and turks and *insert group here*. The church is directly responsible for an approximated 35 million dead people. That's about 70000 years of global terrorism, only that the church had less sophisticated technology, more cruel manners and didn't need that much time.
well aparently from your response, you do not know the difference between Chistianity and Religion. Since man (as, man in the general sense) is inherently evil, you are correct in stating all those travesties. However, that is not Christianity. Christianity or in other words a disicple of Jesus Christ. Can you tell me one thing Jesus did wrong? One travesty? I will restate my question. What is it about Jesus that bothers you so much? Don't give me a bunch of junk about this person or that person did this or that in the name of religion. I want to know specifically what bothers you so much about Jesus?
First of all, you are right in that I talk about organized religion/christianity. Believe it or not, I have some christian friends, so I'm well aware that the crimes of the church can not be held against an individual christian. As for Jesus (should he ever have existed), I do not know him personally, so I can only talk about the stories people wrote down about him. As for the stories, some of them are downright ugly. I don't know how well you like horror stories, but when someone steps out of his grave, visits some old friends and sticks his friend's hand into his own sliced-open side, I for one am off to the lavatory. The teachings itself (which I guess is what you meant) are somewhat arrogant and naive - which is quite hard to do simultaneously. What bothers me most is the "make everyone a follower" stuff, which is also the greates design error in christianity. "Love your next as you love yourself" is, like communism, not a bad idea in itself, but it only works when everybody does it. Given the egoistic nature of man, this is not possible, so the whole thing cannot work. And, as history showed, it didn't.
well you can believe what you want. Although I pity you when you pass away and are standing in front of your creator. Then you will truly know who Jesus is and at that point it is too late. Sadly I see how you look for any posting with Christian content and start your ranting. You can't stand it, can you? The fact that you have no power to stop the Christian themed art. what if you did have that power. What would you complain about?
"Love your next as you love yourself" is, like communism, not a bad idea in itself, but it only works when everybody does it. Given the egoistic nature of man, this is not possible, so the whole thing cannot work. And, as history showed, it didn't. I wouldn't compare it with communism... nobody obliges you to love your next. But just do it, and even if man is egoistic, other won't remain passiv. They deeply realise that there is something different. Do it for Jesus first. That's the point... then we have many reactions. Anger, questions, etc. Thanks for this splash screen !
I like the new version. Looks much cleaner. Ok, I'll shut up now.
Please don't mix religon/idelogy with kde. Just imagine how bad it would be if everyone posting to kde-look.org acted this way. We'd have Keramik for Christians, Plastik for Jews, Baghira for Muslims, Active Heart for Buddhists....
And in place of all that, we have a bunch of anti-God folk pushing their, "keep God off of this and that cause I don't wanna hear it" religion. I don't like your relgion. Please don't die thinking everything God is religious. It's the wrong way to go, and it will cause you to die twice.
I consider myself to be Agnostic, but could you make one based around Proverbs 20:1? I'm straight edge, so that verse pretty much embodies my beliefs. So much so that I'm thinking about getting a pair of praying hands with X's on them, with a banner that says "Proverbs 20:1" I'm also a fan of I Corinthians 16:13, which says, "Stand true to what you believe. Be courageous. Be strong." Maybe I'll just make them, hah.

Your opinions about these wonderful splash screens are just opinions... they don't matter one way or another.
You're absolutely right, but the forum and rating system exist for a reason. I was (mostly) commenting about the quality of the work. Expression is fine and dandy, but I don't want to be talked down to while looking for a cool new icon or spash-screen. I assumed s/he was trying to use this site as intended: showcase and share, receive feedback. I think I commented as such. Don't get all high and mighty about the message just because I critique the form.
Well, I don't care about the message. I've had that argument before and decided it doesn't really matter.But... I gotta say it seems a bit derivitive. Not all that original. If this site is about the look of KDE and makine art for it, well, I think you can do better. The other one about Psalms looks much better (despite using the same tired old icon set). And the red tint for the water fall? For blood? Come on! That's kinda gross, even for christians. Other than that, if you are trying to make nice looking KDE stuff, cool. Keep it up. If you are trying to push a message, don't be too superior about it. I think that's why these types of things get a bad reaction.
I'm offended by your post wubby, please stop posting. I find it distastful, and if your trying to push a message that says "don't push your message" please stop your message. Otherwise, keep up the good work! And God bless :) Thank you.
Is it you? Well, at least this is timbrown's artwork, all characteristics fulfilled. Servus flammenbringer
GeeZee,
