I can not make this work.
Using suse 8.0
when running mk_initrd;
mk_initrd
using "/dev/hda3" as root device (mounted on "/" as "reiserfs")
creating initrd "//boot/initrd" for kernel "//boot/vmlinuz" (2.4.18-4GB)
module reiserfs is "/lib/modules/2.4.18-4GB/kernel/fs/reiserfs/reiserfs.o"
-> insmod reiserfs
Concatenating splash picture size 1024x768 to initrd... done.
Concatenating splash picture size 800x600 to initrd... done.
creating initrd "//boot/initrd.suse" for kernel "//boot/vmlinuz.suse" (2.4.18-4GB)
module reiserfs is "/lib/modules/2.4.18-4GB/kernel/fs/reiserfs/reiserfs.o"
-> insmod reiserfs
Concatenating splash picture size 1024x768 to initrd... done.

Any help....
Okay, maybe I'm an idiot, but being a Redhat 7.3 user, I'm not finding a bootsplash-1024x768.cfg or one for any resolution for that matter. Is it different, or am I just being stupid?

If you're using the default 7.3 install, it uses GRUB, not lilo, thus, no .cfg. Check out your /etc/grub.conf and look at the "splashimage=" line.
I'm an idiot. But not completely one. Grub apparently doesn't like bootsplash-spiderman.jpg, because when I reboot, the screen is black. Ideas?
