Very nice idea, indeed! I also think there's the need of a bolder font and maybe a light grey picture in the background on the right part of the splashscreen, it's too empty now. But the idea is really cool!
I think it is a nice idea to combine the world with a clock.
I like it, the concept is nice. I dont like the font used though, its too fat, but thats my personal choice. Other than that, it looks lovely.
