Original artwork files you created this with... I notice a couple of little errors like the panel not fitting properly on the base etc..
Or can you fix it up... I like this splash, but it needs tweaking to get its full potential.
Kind regards
Miles
I will be fixing the iSplash Brushed metal splash screen soon.
Sorry for the lack of updates. Reason and some iKDE info:
I have got linux back on my computer (unfortuanly RedHat 8 instead of Mandrake Linux 9.1 (Mandrake seemed to not like my Australian (as I am australian) Digital TV card).
Once I have finished doing work for a secret project and also getting 2.6.1 kernel on RedHat (to watch DTV in Linux), I will get back to iKDE
Schedule:
-New website
-Fix iSplash
-Start work on iceWM theme
my aquanized kdesktop:
- kwinacqua mod window decoration
- Aqua Icons by noonespecial (they were on kde-look.org but later they disappeareed...don't know why)
- mosfets liquid for stipples, translucency and appropriate color scheme
- YOUR Splash ;-)
- xmms skin 'xtunes'
- mplayer skin 'OSX-Brushed'
and of course some modified kicker-arrangement...
also thought about using some karamba theme to simulate the dock - but until now i prefer good old kicker
shall i mail you a screenshot?
Got the same error:
> tar zxvf ~/tmp/kde-look/iSplash-Brushed.tar.gz
readme
splash_active_bar.png
splash_bottom.png
splash_inactive_bar.png
tar: Skipping to next header
gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file
tar: Child returned status 1
Mac OS 10... Why is there so much copying of the OS X GUI? The icons, the window decorations, the wallpaper, the taskbar, the list could go on forever... If you all like Mac OS that much, go out and buy a G4.
The reason why we try to copy the Mac OS 10 user interface is because we:
1. Don't have the money to buy a Mac (I would of if I didn't need a new PC last year when I had a job)
2. There are mac users around that use KDE, GNOME or any other Linux Window Manager (or maybe unix?) on their mac's in X11 etc.
That may be true, but if Linux wants a good reputation, we need to develop our own look, not copy others. This is what gives Linux a bad name. More Original! Less Freakin knockoffs people!
Oh by the way, OSX is Unix, so they all use unix.
Well, where is Keramik copied from?
Where are the cristal icons copied from?
We have developed our own style. Nevertheless, why shall it be forbidden to mimick other OSs? I see this more as a compliment to these OS.
As for me, I like the Aqua style, but I never would by a Mac, since it does no support the right applications for my job. And in addition to that, I would have to buy a new PowerBook on my own, while I got a x86 notebook form my company.
The reason why people shouldn't be allowed to copy other OSs is the simple fact that their GUI style, icons, logos, etc, are under COPYRIGHT. Under the Apple Computer Inc. license, copying the style, logos, and anything else related to OS X, is not allowed unless it directly corresponds to OS X and surrounding software, but no other. KDE is not surrounding software. I'm not saying this to be hypocritial ( I did have a splash screen entitled "OS X Wannabe" that parodized the usage of OS X lookalikes in KDE, but I deleted it ), I'm saying this to show just how serious copying OS X GUI material/making lookalikes to KDE can be.
I will release a better looking version in a few weeks.
BTW. If anyone knows how to fix the non tranparency problem on the bottom bar, please email me or leave a comment.
