Hi guys, It seems some have quite some problems installing this cute splash screen, so here is a simple work around. The most easy way to install the splash screen is by using the split screen filemanager Krusader in Superuser mode. On the left panel simply click on the ZIP file and you will see a subdirectory. On the right panel go to the next directory: /opt/kde3/share/apps/ksplash/Themes Now simply return to the left panel and move the cursor to the SuSE Clear Crystal Green directory and press F5 to copy it. Finally fire up the KDE Configuration Center > Look and Feel > Startup screen and choose SuSE Clear Crystal Green and your fine. Have fun!
How bout a theme with a blue backround and a green SuSE icon? Great Splash!
How do you install a zip archive file? When you are in the control panel and you add a splash screen it will only show tar.gz files.
I recommend unzipping in a temp directory, then turning that into a tar.gz... that's what I'm gonna try.
This is so good, I wouldn't be surprised if SUSE wanted to include it in their default distribution. I suggest you contact them and see what they say!
thanks a lot ! How to contact ?
Well Suse is being managed by Novell now - have a look at some of these links:- http://wombat.nuxified.com/suse-links
I would think this is the best way to contact SUSE: http://www.novell.com/products/linuxprofessional/support/contact.html
You could sign up for one of the SuSE Linux lists such as suse-linux-e. Several of the SuSE guys or on it. You could then post and ask if anyone there knows how to contact Novell/SuSE while posting the link for them to check out your work. It is really better than anything that is on the SuSE releases.
Forgive my typo. Several of the SuSE guys "are" on the list, not "or" on the list.
nice work :) green and blue both
